There are not a lot of options in Sintra i believe this was the best option in the village. The boutique hotel gets better ratings, I don't see it. Lawrences hotel is a striking old home just a block or two from the main square it is very quiet the staff was friendly and the rooms were really really beautiful... More

The city of Sintra is kind of a crazy place with lots of tourists. But the Lawrence's Hotel is just enough out of the way to be a quiet respite. The Olissapona room was charming - windows opened to a quiet forest on the backside of the hotel. High ceilings, big room and lots of closet space. Big bathroom also... More

This is the oldest hotel in the Iberian Peninsula and was a charming place choosen by writers in the 19th century, as Lord Byron and Portuguese romantic authors. Although the place keeps its charming atmosphere, it is not a five star hotel per 21th century standards. The room is small, the bed not very confortable and there is no silence... More

We went there for lunch, with a reservation for a group of 7 friends, as they were part of Restaurant Week. When we arrived they told us that the hotel's policy was for a maximum of 4 people per table. The restaurant was almost empty, there were several free tables of 8 , there was even a small separate room... More

I think this hotel has seen better days, but could be great with some updates. (Trouble is, its uphill location and congested street will probably make that a hazardous feat!) Loved being able to walk to the Quinta da Regaleira and a nearby bus stop for other palaces. Strolling into town couldn't be easier, but we were happy to dine... More

Our passport holder was removed from our room from a staff at this hotel. They require you to leave your room key at the reception, so they know your comings and goings at all times. Room is old, bed is uncomfortable. I would highly recommend you choose any other hotel. There's a Ritz hotel about 10 minutes cab ride away... More

Having read some of the reviews of Lawrence's Hotel we were a bit apprehensive about our stay for one week in September. We need not have been concerned. Without exception all of the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. We booked a suite which was bright, spacious, airy and had a lovely view across the valley. Whilst... More

The hotel has long past it's prime. It is not a 5 stars hotel by any means. It has a great location a welcoming staff and an intresting rustic feel to it. The bed was hard and stiff but the view from the room was great. We stayed in one of the suites and it was spacious.

The Lawrence Hotel is full of character. The staff are friendly and polite. The meals are excellent. An 'eat as much as you want' breakfast sets you up for a good day of walking and sightseeing. The evening meals are table service and are innovative and tasty. Rooms are full of character. The Lord Byron Suite is excellent. A bedroom... More

Lawrence's has been a landmark in beautiful Sintra for centuries and a daughter-in-law speaks glowingly of her honeymoon there so when I was in search of a romantic hotel in Sintra, Lawrence's was the obvious choice. A number of things about the stay were excellent most particularly the warmth of every single member of the staff. They could not have... More
