Spent 1 night here while on an REI hiking trip. Nice hotel, loved the historic charm. Of course, historic charm doesn't always include modern amenities. The most noticeable being no wi-fi in the rooms, only in the common areas. And like many old properties, the interior layout was a bit of a maze. Had the luck to get the Lawrence... More

Lord Byron, the romantic poet, called the Lawrence Hotel his glorious Eden. Among the 16 rooms, his suite is the most honoured and shown with pride to we, lesser mortals. Surely the views from the hotel inspired many lines of Childe Herald Pilgrimage. The quality of service, the wine selection and the superb restaurant supported his poetic flights. Lawrence's hotel... The hotel is well located and definitely with charm. The room is ok and breakfast is good. However, there is no wifi in the room; it only works in public area. To be more precise, the wifi is so weak that it only works in the reception area. In the end, we had to sit in the stairs which is... More

The hotel has character and is nicely set outside of the main tourist hub which mainly features swarms of pensioners walking around looking dazed. When we arrived we were given the disabled room which was not great. However it did turn into an added benefit as after sleeping on the rock hard bed my back welcomed the disabled facilities. We... We visited the hotel for dinner having read good reviews. We were not disappointed, food was good and the service outstanding. The special chocolate cake on the dessert menu is an absolute must for any chocolate lover. My husband is hoping the chef will share the recipe.. Here's hoping :)

We stayed at this hotel because it was well known for its character. We also took with us family visiting from England. The standard room was nice, but dominated by the pine four poster bed, which in what was a small space meant the room felt a little claustrophobic. The bed was also very hard, and the tiny tiny pillows... More

We were late to secure a hotel room and came across this one mostly by chance. It was the last available room and we were told straight away it was designed for handicapped people. However, the room was very comfortable (low set taps in the shower were not a disturbance), bed comfortable, room clean, the service was excellent, breakfast very... More

We booked this hotel through expedia, because we wanted to visit Sintra for a day. Location was perfect and our room was charming, with a beautiful view of the mountains in Sintra. The room was clean, and the beds were a little hard for our taste, but this did not stop us from enjoying the hotel experience. Staff was friendly... More

We stayed several days in the Lord Byron Suite (named for the 19th Century British bad-boy poet who once stayed in this room for a period of time). The bedroom was simple (almost spartan), yet comfortable. The living room was nicely sized with fireplace, desk, couch, chair, desk and balcony. This is a historic hotel with some real history, so... Lawrence is the place to stay in Sintra. This is an hotel part of Sintra´s culture and history, not a design hotel. The rooms are spacious with a great view, ask for room with a valley balcony, the quiet romantic decoration is a little bit spartan for some standards but I found it nice. The breakfast/restaurante room is beautifull, the... More
