This hotel is a charming property located just outside the city walls of Obidos. The rooms are not as large or elaborate as some of the hotels we stayed in while we were in Portugal, but it is a good value for the money. The front desk staff were very helpful and made good suggestions for our evening there.

After looking at several lodgings including the Pousada we were super pleased to find the Estalagem. The building was very close to the city walls and was lovely and spacious, not so crowded with knick-knacks that one couldn't move without fear of knocking something over. The room was well equiped, lovely bright blue and white tiled bathroom, and a little... More

Beautiful old building but not a great place for a quiet R&R. We heard lots of doors banging both after we had gone to bed and before we got up. We had booked a junior suite for our one night stay, but unfortunately the hotel made a mistake and there was only regular room for us when we arrived. They... More

Just outside the city walls. Cozy, with plent of breathing room. Perfect for a familly weekend. Decor in the rooms is great. Service is very friendly, and helpful. Great place to go with friends. Staff will tell you about the retaurants worth visiting, and they are right, so do follow their advice

We were touring through Portugal and spent a night here. Staff - especially reception - was very friendly and helpful, and full of suggestions that definitely contributed to make our stay more pleasant. The restaurant recomendations were most welcome. The hotel is right next to the village walls (Obidos is a walled town), and there is a very handy gate... More

This is a lovely and quite extraordinary hotel. It was built as a nunnery and was completed in 1833 but, fortunately for us, the nuns never arrived. The building still retains much of the quaint old-fashioned charm and the refectory (now the breakfast room) is stunning. Even the newer parts of the hotel have been tastefully and sympathetically blended into... More

I booked this property online about six months ahead of our stay. By the time we arrived at the hotel I was hoping that it would be as charming as in the photos. Oh my goodness !!!!! It was a wonderful four star hotel at a two star price. The rooms, service, breakfast, and especially the woman who worked the... More

Spent our 25th wedding anniversary at this amazing hotel. We had a lovely room, with a bottle of sparking wine left to chill on our arrival. The staff were tremendously helpful and friendly. Obidos is a charming little old historic town with its cobbled stones, very quaint. Everything about the hotel was superb. I would highly recommend it and would... More

This place is so charming, you can almost imagine Nuns quietly roaming the halls, except for the cozy bar to your right when you first enter. The walled city of Obidos is so close ...literally there are steps right across the street that take you into the old city. We arrived by auto so we didn't want to drive into... More

very happy this was our Obidos stay - upon arrival, we were shown directly to our room, given a map of Obidos and some history on the building. Room 5 is very spacious corner room with huge ensuite bath with amazing water pressure and lots of hot water. Males guests: the toilet seat didn't stay propped up, the ladies will... More
