We spent a night at Castelo Obidos and it was pleasant but a little bizarre as the main access gate was closed as they were setting up the vast Christmas pageant. A little harrowing driving up a wet cobblestone hill through a narrow gate. Dinner was good if a little expensive. Our kids room was 102 and not especially nice,... more

Perfectly located hotel in an medieval unique site. We stayed in the Donjon (Suite) and had so much fun and also very romantic moments. I would say that from start to finish we enjoyed our stay (one night only). Perfect attention of the personnel and very good restaurant with an great wine list. It is true that rooms aren't very... more

This was our first Pousada out of three we visited in a long weekend break in Portugal. The castle is inside the medeival town and so it's location is magnificant and lives up to the Pousadas' reputation and heritage. The room was small but clean . Avoid dinner though as the choice is minimal, the qaulity of food not outstanding and the... more

Stayed at the Pousada on the 16th December 2007and the best word to describe the experience was ... "disappointing". The rooms was very small, so small that I had trouble arranging space to open my suitcase. The bathroom was hardly big enough for two people. The Pousada only has one sitting room, a bar and a restaurant, no games room, no... more

We enjoyed our one night here - the town itself is very touristy, so if not for our unique experience at the pousada, we would not have really enjoyed ourselves. Our room was smallish but comfortable and it's hard to beat the view out over the castle walls. We found the service to be good, the room very clean. more

My husband and I just returned from a dream vacation in Portugal with our two girls. It was our 25th wedding anniversary and we had been planning this trip for years. We stayed at beautiful hotels in Lisbon and Cascais but the Castelo was a special splurge for us. What a huge disappointment! The reception at the hotel was very... more

I agree with previous viewers. Town worth seeing but not for long. Arrive late afternoon and leave next day. Stay in tower was worth the expense. We made up for it by buying bottle of wine, bread, cheese, etc. locally and enjoying sunset on whicker chairs/table outside our room. Parking is safe so to avoid hauling luggage up steep stairs,... more

I stayed here for 1 night. GENERAL: You will drive through some narrow alleys and arches going to and from the pousada. Once you get there, the staff really does treat you like royalty. No wish is too outrageous for them. Be sure to take time to explore the pousada itself. It has it's own access to parts of the... more

My husband and I also stayed here on our honeymoon and what an experience! We paid a little extra to stay in the one and only tower room but it was well worth it. The bedroom is up a winding narrow staircase and the bed is covered by a canopy. From our doorstep we had a picturesque view of Obidos.... more

we stayed in this old castle for one night, and it was nice. the room was small, but had a queen bed with a down comforter. there was a bar in a cosy alcove, and the staff were good. However, this town is nothing more than tourist trap, with all the shops selling the same tired trinkets. I think you... more
