The location of the guesthouse is fantastic. It is at the central and near eating and shopping places. It is also within walking distance to busses, trams, trains, tourist hop on/off buses and the tourist attractions in the area. The closest metro station is Rossio. First off, the elevador to the hotel is not working and looks like it won't be for awhile. This was an unpleasant surprise as it is a tough, tough haul to get to the hotel with your luggage. You either have to be in pretty good shape or pay for taxis every time you go out. The rooms we had... more

Hotel is great, the rooms are nicely decorated and very clean. beds are a bit hard, but i like that. Lavra Guesthouse is a good value. We stayed there twice. Although the rooms and bathrooms were small, we enjoyed the great location and friendly staff. Pros: location (5 min. walk from downtown (Rossio square)), price, friendly staff. Cons: very noisy. It's an old building, with wooden floors and creaking doors. We heard every single noise from the beedrooms around us. Not very amusing when your next door neighbours arrive at 2 am after a Fado evening. more

The hotel is on a hill, so you are already high-up. I asked for a room as high as possible and got one on the fourth floor, with balcony; what a view!
