The best location you could ask for in Lisbon with a cheap price should set the alarm bells ringing... Booked two rooms with a group of friends, both had mould and one hadn't had the sheets changed (maid quickly arrived after we complained), but as we only wanted somewhere to keep our stuff and to sleep after a day exploring... more

Like mentioned so many times the location is great and that's how they get away with it. We checked in and were barely acknowledged. When we went to our room we had been given a twin although we'd reserved a double: I went down to reception and told them, no apology given, they just gave me the key to another... more

This hotel was very disappointing and cannot possibly be 3 star. The whole hotel (including our room) smelt of drains, the staff were incredibly unfriendly and unhelpful, the breakfast was appalling and everywhere needed renovating. We had bare wires sticking out of tiles in the bathroom, the shower didn't work, the windows didn't close - it was a nightmare two... more

Borges is an ideal location in Lisbon, and that is how they get away with it. We stayed there for three nights and did not manage a smile or a good morning from anyone from the staff. Sheets were not changed throughout our stay and the so called breakfast was horrific but served in a once grand breakfast room. I... more

I asked for room with balcony and we got the smallest room I have ever seen in hotel, looked more like cheap hostel. Instead of balcony there was a door window with railing. I went to ask for bigger room and they gave us "normal" room which was probably at least three times (3x seriously) bigger than the previous one.... more

As others here have said, the best thing Hotel Borges has going for it is location. It is right next to the Chiado metro stop, and a few minutes away from both the Rossio station (trains to beautiful Sintra) and the Cais de Sodre station (trains to Belem, Oeiras etc.), It's at the foot of the lively Bairro Alto (fado,... more

The rooms were clean (if basic), with a number of the rooms having balconies overlooking a busy pedestrian square (mine did not, though the view was not bad). Bathrooms appeared to have been remodeled more recently than the rest of the room. Breakfast was included with the stay, though I did not check it out. The service was a bit... more

This hotel has an incredible location. From here you literally have the city are you doorstep. The rooms are clean so no problems here. The only negatives are: no a/c, which can be an issue if it's very hot, and the rooms are old. It's not an antique or even vintage charm. They are just old -- looking like they... more

The hotel was in a great location with the metro Baixa/Chado directly at the front of the hotel. There are excellent coffee houses directly at the side of the hotel. The hotel staff did not give us a smile for a whole week. The breakfast was the worst I had experienced in a european hotel bread and jam every day,... more

Arrived in Lisbon from Cascais and made our way to the hotel duas in the swelthering heat, only to be told it was over booked. They told us we were to stay in their sister hotel, which was Hotel Borges. The reception staff were soured faced and miserable to say the least. I feel they really need to get a... more
