Just returned from Portugal this past weekend with friends and had a wonderful time! We stayed at Hotel Aviz and the beginning of our trip and the final evening. I cannot say enough what a truly hospitable, professional, warm and accommodating staff that attends to many details. The hotel is perfectly situated just off the main avenue, but is very... more

We spent 4 nights, 26-30 May 2009 at Hotel Aviz. It is a pleasant, small hotel. Staff were very pleasant, all spoke good English. The room was a little disappointing as it was very small - no area to sit, only on the bed but was very clean and compact. Little wardrobe space for hanging clothes and the bed/mattress was... more

My husband and I stayed 4 nights, and we were most impressed. The staff were most welcoming and very helpful. The room was spotless and very comfortable. The breakfast were fantastic, agood start for the days sightseeing. The location was exactly what we wanted, close to public transport and very easy to get around. Overall would defintely go back and... more

Having chosen the Hotel Aviz partly on the positive reviews given on Trip Advisor, I am pleased to say that the Aviz exceeded all my expectations. From check-in to check-out, the service provided by all the staff was likely the warmest and most hospitable I have experienced. There is a palpable sense that the staff of the Aviz take great... more

I stayed at the Aviz for 7 nights in April 2009. I was with my 1 year old son and my mother. We payed for a twin room and got upgraded to a suite which was absolutely lovely. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff could not have been more helpful. The room was well furnished and pretty large.... more

We stayed in this hotel for one night only on our way back to the UK ,having spent a week in Madeira. We loved it. Tasteful and friendly with staff who almost all appeared to speak very good English (although I do like to try out the odd word of the local language). We had dinner in the hotel too... more

Aviz is a very clean, bright hotel. Our room was small (for American standards) but about what we have had in other European cities. Marble bathrooms, nice towels and bedding. The staff was very friendly, spoke english etc. The breakfast was definitely made for Americans, with eggs and bacon and my personal favorite, smoked salmon. Though not a bad location,... more

I booked the hotel on the strength of the photos which turned out to be pretty accurate. The bed was very comfortable and I was sorry to leave it in the mornings. The staff were super nice and the room clean with nice framed prints. The bathroom all marble tile. The decor is tasteful and has a cosy feel. I... more

We have just come back from a weekend stay in the hotel Aviz and my friend and I could not fault it at all. The hotel itself is nicely decorated and very clean, the rooms are spacious and the bathroom was also big and very nice. The rooms are well equipped with a full stocked mini bar at reasonable prices.... more

I stayed at the Aviz for 12 days while at a conference in Lisbon. I had a few packages shipped to the hotel from the US for the conference via UPS and FedEx, but they were caught up in customs. However, the manager emailed me and helped work out a resolution for the packages before I arrived in the city.... more
