We stayed for 3 nights at this hotel, located not far from Castle St. George, plenty of local places to eat and mingle. A short walk to the port. Great location. The hotel offers a great English style breakfast, the staff was very helpful with local information.

This was our second visit to Lisbon and the Olissippo Castello Hotel. Pleased to say the high standards have been maintained, and again a very enjoyable stay was had. The staff are extremely helpful and courteous, the rooms and public areas kept immaculate. Handily placed for getting around, although having a lofty position in Lisbon, not recommended for folks who... More

The rooms are spacious and well equipped. The hotel breakfast is excellent, and the staff are very helpful. The only downside was the wifi was patchy on the first floor. The location and view are pretty good for tourists.

This was the second time I've stayed in this hotel and is still a wonderful place. Great location for the Alfama, Graca, Rossio and Chado. Near the 28E tram so you can get anywhere by public transport if you don't want to walk. Beautiful rooms, good free wifi, great breakfast, lovely balconies and views. Comfortable beds, luxurious bathrooms. Price for... More

I stayed at this fantastic location 27-30 Oct, oldest district in Lisbon, walking distance to all historical sites, churches and amenities. I was on 1st floor Rm 104 but the room was not available yet. All staff was very friendly and attentive. I purchased a non-refundable room thru their web site directly, wonderful breakfast to start the day included. They... More

Located in the Alfama district of Lisbon the Olissippo Castelo is well situated, close to many sights in old Lisbon. The breakfast here was good, a lot to choose from. Friendly and helpful staff, we had an upgrade on our room so we enjoyed a nice terrace with a view of the nearby church and miradouro. Sleep quality was good,... More

Lovely room with large balcony in this hotel close to,the castle. Centre of Lisbon about 20 mins walk and there is an elevator down if you can't manage the steep climb. A good breakfast buffet with lots of fruit, pastries including pastel de natas. Restaurants close by as the hotel only does salads.

We chose this hotel in order to have quick access to the airport. It was located right by the expo site which included beautiful modern buildings, the stunning train station, and a high end shopping mall for those so inclined. The hotel room was clean with very comfortable beds. Our only complaint is the use of smooth slick tiles with... More

This was just perfect for us. Location, rooms, breakfast, staff: all was great. Everyone at the reception spoke English and were really professional. I would not hesitate to book Olissippo Castelo again!

This hotel is in an excellent location, just under the castle, with glorious views across the city from the large terrace adjoining our room. There is building work ongoing in the property across the road from the hotel, with a large crane, and although this spoils the view a little, it really wasn't a problem. The building work appears to... More

Staying in Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria

Neighborhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
