We spent two glorious days here, and can't say enough good things about it. We loved the proximity to the castle and it's surrounding quaint streets. We loved the decor of the hotel, and the serenity once inside. We loved the careful attention given by the staff. Can't wait to return. This one is a real find.

This was one of the best Hotel I ever stood during vacation. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast amazing and the room was very nice. The only thing to beware of are the noisy peacocks around the Hotel. They start screaming early in the morning. Besides this and the normal noise level during the day time the... More

We were intrigued by the setting of this hotel, you ring the bell by a pair of large wooden blue doors, and it opens into a lovely oasis of calm, which completely belies what is on the exterior. Right next door to the Castelo St Jorge, at the heart of the Amfala district, with its tourist shops, cafes, restaurants, and... More

This is an oasis of calm in a busy area near Castel St Jorge. Get a taxi all the way to the Hotel Door. It's a tricky walk pulling cases even from the castle entrance where the taxi drivers try to drop you off.Go,it's a delightful hotel. Be aware though that the peacocks from the castle can be a bit... I just loved Solar de Castelo. It is quiet, but still central. The interior is tasteful wiithout being too formal. I particularly enjoyed having a good breakfast in the beautyful little courtyard, or just to sit there reading a book. The staff is very helpful and friendly. I liked that they trust you with self service of drinks in the... More

A beautiful, classy hotel within the castle walls. The staff were superbly helpful, and the whole place ca and peaceful. There were peacocks everywhere, giving it an extra touch of difference. The room was also very comfortable, with complementary bottle of port.

Very nice boutique hotel situated next to the Castle grounds but in a nice quiet part. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Loved the free tea and coffee and snacks they made available all day. Honesty bar was also a nice touch. Streets in this area are all cobbled so flat shoes highly recommended and there are some quite steep... More

Heaven In a boutique hotel in what used to be the Kings kitchen some 200 years ago. Higher than here you can`t go and right next to the castle, serenety and abience in a perfect setting. With live sound effects from the nearby Peacocks that still live in the Kings garden in and around the hotel. A quiet courtyard with... More

perfect location, beautiful room, terrific staff -- all in all excellent stay. staying on the hill near the castle is only a short (and cheap) cab ride to the other parts of town and is such a quaint and unique place to spend a weekend.
