Fantastic place! Great staff and the room small but perfectly formed. Location is stunning...shared walls with the castle and peacocks all around. Great breakfast and the honesty bar is a great idea. We will definitely be back.

....certainly book it if you love ancient stuff in a modern setting. The use of modern woods all over the hotel contributes to a very warm finish. Rooms had everything needed. I could see the castle from my window. All in all: Excellent. PS: Wifi was sporadic the first night but worked well after that.

We enjoyed this quiet, clean and comfortable hotel right in the part of Lisbon we wanted to visit. The staff were efficient, helpful and friendly. The peacocks were a nice surprise! We enjoyed the complimentary port in our room!!

My partner and I spent 4 nights here and were delighted with our choice. The location was perfect for us, quiet and picturesque, though a steep climb so not ideal for people less mobile. Our room was lovely, the buffet breakfast was extensive and top quality, setting us up nicely for our stomping round the City. Staff were charming and... More

We stayed here for 3 nights and it was wonderful. It is a beautiful hotel with every comfort you could want. Breakfast was included in the price as was free tea/coffee and cake during the day. Breakfast could be taken outside in the courtyard whilst you watched the peacocks roaming round. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel... More

Not your usual city centre hotel...small, beautiful, friendly, quiet, comfortable... Lovely breakfast available until 12md, free tea and coffee thereafter and an honesty bar too. Staff very friendly, professional and helpful. Returned home fitter after all the walking up and down the hill needed to get anywhere, but that just provided a good excuse to have a pastry with coffee.... More

Hidden behind a blue door, backing up to the castle walls, this is not the easiest place to find - our taxi driver insisted we walked the last 50 meters with our bags up the narrow cobbled street. Don't let that put you off though, as it was well worth the short hike (and other taxi drivers seemed to be... More

A hidden gem of a hotel, little tricky to find but worth it when you do. The room was well equipped and the complimentary port a nice touch. Buffet breakfast a great start to the day and a good variety of food to choose from. We did lots of walking in the three days we were there, best way to... More

Lovely, charming old world hotel. Spacious lounge / breakfast room with peacocks looking in through glass doors from the beautiful outdoor courtyard most mornings. Very friendly and helpful staff. Adequate hot and cold breakfast. Room and bathroom plenty big enough for a base with a complimentary decanter of excellent Port. The hotel is located within the outer castle walls up... More

Be warned that this is hard to get to by taxi and at the apex of a steep hill for walkers. The narrow streets are exciting with neighbours bird cages just brushing the sides of the vehicle. We were disappointed in the size of the main room (just right for the bed and not much else!), but the bathroom was... More

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review. São Jorge Castle is the cradle of Lisbon and it stands in the highest of the 7 hills of Lisbon (on the top of Alfama). The Solar do Castelo is located in the small castle village where 400 people still live. If you don’t feel like walking, we will be glad to pick... More
