We stayed here in June 2015. We loved our first room with it's window overlooking the pool. The bed was very comfortable and we loved the antique ambiance balanced by modern art. The breakfast tray was absolutely delightful and the offerings were delicious. The staff was charming and very helpful. They made a restaurant reservation for us and arranged to... More

Stayed here in June 2015. The hotel feels more like a home and most of the time it felt like we were the only people staying here. It's really peaceful and calm. The room was lovely and the kitchenette quite useful and well equipped. The bed was really, really comfortable. Rossio Square is a couple of minutes walk away (down... More

Casa Balthazar is the house of the founder of Confeitaria Nacional-- the national bakery. Still in the family after many generations, the house has been converted into a number of suites and cottages. We stayed in the Chalet Suite-- what a beautiful place to stay altogether, but what a wonderful surprise to have a living room, bedroom, sitting area, grand... More

We stayed for 4 nights, having seen the feedback for it on Tripadvisor, and had a wonderful, peaceful stay in this small and beautifully furnished hotel. It is centrally located down a small side street but once inside you enter a peaceful oasis of calm, centred around a pool and garden. The rooms with balconies/city views were already booked so... Loved this boutique hotel, b&b, apartment - I'm not really sure how to accurately describe the accomodations at Casa Balthazar. We stayed in the duplex which was on 3 floors if you count the terrace overlooking Lisbon - spectacular views. The rooms were beautifully decorated - a mixture of modern and art deco. Small kitchen - TV, CD Player on... More

Seriously, Casa Balthazar is one of the most beautiful and exceptional places we have ever been to. We chose the room with panoramic view and terrace, and it was simply amazing. Lovely design, wonderful views of the city, and best of it all... the terrace!! It was hard to leave, and we already plan to go again :) The welcome... More

A green door in a high white wall with small brass plaque is the only thing that signifies there is a hotel here in the bustling heart of the Chiado. The courtyard is a bit unprepossessing, but once you are into the reception area everything changes. The hotel is a beautiful haven, it is very stylish, very comfortable, homely and our... More

This was a marvellous hidden gem of a place, with wonderful accommodation, the best breakfasts ever, and an attentive and generous welcome. We spent 5 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. There is also a real choice of restaurants just in the same street too.

Mysef and 8 girlfriends visited lisbon at the he weekend and we were looking to stay in an hotel that had an excellant location for shopping, visits the sights and importantly frequenting and sampling the local food and wine. This hotel is a hidden gem! Breakfast is served in your bedroom, (enormous in size) by the lovely Sabine, you can... More

What an incredibly special place! Great location, beautiful decor, excellent service, a relaxing vibe and a delicious breakfast from the oldest bakery in Lisbon brought to your room daily on a tray! I had a relaxing swim in the lovely little heated pool as I arrived and I enjoyed the jazz music floating through lounge day and night, setting a... More
