We spent 4 nights in Lisbon and couldn't have been happier with Casa Balthazar. The location is ideal. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated. The staff is friendly and helpful. They even give you a cell phone so you can call them for anything. The common areas are beautiful and peaceful. A delicious breakfast is delivered to your room... More

Tucked away on a quiet side street, this charming B&B is a gem. Beautiful communal rooms, a lovely garden with a heated pool ( we swam in January!) and beautifully furnished & equipped bedrooms. Breakfast is delicious and is brought to your room.the location is very convenient - very near train & metro stations and shops, restaurants & museums. The... More

From the staff, to the common areas, to the room and the views everything was perfect at Casa Balthazar. The Panoramic Terrace room was an apartment with kitchenette and gorgeous view of the castle from the room and the outside terrace. Delicious breakfast was delivered to the room and the kitchenette was also modestly stocked for our enjoyment. Very good... More

Positioned near Rossio station and close to restaurants, transport etc Casa Balthazar is an excellent choice for those wanting a small hotel on a city break. Breakfasts are delivered to your room at your requested time and are delicious! Too cool in November to use the pool, but I would imagine on a hot day it would be very welcome.... More

We chose to stay at Casa Balthazar so we could be in central Lisbon and park our car and walk to the main sites. Even though the website is good, it still didn't convey how really beautiful this guesthouse is, with spacious rooms and many common sitting areas. Breakfast delivered to your room is great so that you can eat... More

We stayed at the Casa Balthazar for a long weekend in November and were so glad that we found this place - a real gem, a quiet oasis of calm in bustling Lisbon. We stayed in a suite, which was spacious, spotless and beautifully decorated. The bed was huge and comfortable and the little kitchen very well equipped. There are... More

Staying in Chiado & Carmo

Neighborhood Profile
Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.
