This was a quick 2-day getaway, Lisbon being on our bucket list. When I reviewed this hotel on Tripadvisor, I was still unbiased, but now I have my own bias - this hotel is spectacular overall! I wasn't too impressed with the room I had booked by looking at the photos on their website. I mean, it looked fine (Double... More

Hello and thank you for the kind comment. Both guys who arranged for your early breakfast are our employees of the month. Your original booking was a river view suite, also very nice, slightly different decoration and colour scheme to the duplex suite to which you upgraded in the end. The duplex is the biggest suite we got at the... More

We loved the Solar dos Mouros. This hotel has a cool vibe, friendly, super helpful front desk staff and original artwork everywhere. We arrived direct from an overseas flight at 8.30am and were immediately welcomed to a generous breakfast. The room was very comfortable, a loft design with a high ceiling, lovely interior wooden shutters, huge original artwork on the walls... Hello and thank you for the great review! The front door is indeed somewhat "unassuming" - gotta keep our mayor's office happy, everything must be restored with the original design in mind. The door still keeps some of its original 19th parts, at least what was possible to keep. There's plenty of small restaurants nearby, that's true. We also like... More

Stayed for 3 nights in September. Most attractive hotel and friendly staff. Good exercise getting to our top floor room, but worth it! Good location for access to the centre of the city. Well placed for the Castelo, Se and Alfama areas.

Up near the castle and the rest of the city is really accessible via the lifts and the trams. Staff are really helpful with recommendations of attractions and restaurants. Great views of the city, great breakfast with wide choice to eat.

Places like this is that for years gave bad reputation and image to Lisbon and hotels in Lisbon. Fortunately Lisbon is a fantastic city with impressive hotel, which is the opposite of this hotel. Staying in Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria

Neighborhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
