We stayed at this hotel, after reading several posts which did not state it was the best but neither said it was as bad as it really is. The space was very uncomfortable, the room and even the beds were dirty (we even found other people's hair), there were no towel hooks in the bathroom, the lamps did not work,... More

After paying a low price and reading bad reviews I didn't have much expectations of the hotel. But I'm happy I chose it for my 2 nights in Lisbon, it was only a positive experience. The location couldn't be any more central (yet there was no noise at all from outside), the staff was very friendly, my room was clean... More

Positive: great location right in the centre of Baixa (the cafe outside is very reasonable bu the way) and only two minutes' walk from the metro. Negative: came back to the room to find the master key IN our door that the chamermaid had left there. We found we could go into anyone's room we wanted but gave the key... More

Went in this hotel for 3 night, the reservation was made by a colleague, so didn't know the place before, I think it's similar to the other touristic hotels in Baixa, old, not clean and with small rooms, the problem is the complete lack of education of the staff, really never meet such unpleasant people. A part for this the... More

Very close to metro and walk distance to Alfama + much of Older Town area. Quality of rooms quite variable and should sleep quality be issue, might avoid this hotel. First night we were in a much lower quality room than we paid for, booked and were promised. Room was changed to 4th floor balcony room next day when brought... More

Ignoring many of the reviews on this site I booked a room for myself at this hotel. All I needed was a centrally located room to crash. Well, this room and hotel did not even meet those standards. Upon arrival there was no record of my reservation nor any interest on the part of the young, inexperienced desk staff in... More

The location is great - 2 blocks from the metro line (which is great in Lisbon) and right in the centre of the city. The hotel is clean, staff friendly, and breakfast more than adequate. The price was definitely reasonable considering the room was small and the internet did not always work in our room. Lisbon is such an exciting... More

We chose this hotel because of its location. We took a taxi to the hotel and dragged our suitcases, only to learn our room will not be ready for our first night (no reason given) and that they booked another hotel for us (with the same price). To be fair the other hotel had more stars and it was also... More

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighborhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
