After reading mixed reviews we weren't sure what to expect but the hotel was perfect for our 3 nights in Lisbon. Our room was modern and comfortable with a nice bathroom. Pillows were tiny and full of little ball things, but were immediately changed for better by housekeeping staff. Breakfast was fine and we had no trouble from outside noise.... More

I found the hotel to be not too great ... it was close to the city center so all sights were very walkable but the staff was always preoccupied, friendly but not overly helpful. I always felt as if they were doing em a favour not their job. My room also smelt a little musty - as if damp and... More

Beautiful hotel. Rooms are spacious, modern with extremely comfortable beds and a great shower. The breakfast is lovely (could probably improve on the coffee, but I'm very fussy when comes to coffee) and there is loads of it. Staff, meanwhile, couldn't be more welcoming or helpful. We really enjoyed our stay here. So close to the action, with the tram... More

Very good location, just near the Restauradores metro station, in the very center of Lisbon. Very quiet at the night, no discos or bars with noisy people around. The room was very clean, good furniture, the bath was in excellent condition, everything new, modern design! The breakfast was great, we enjoyed it every morning, we stayed 7 days, so it... More

Good hotel and very well located, near to the centre of town and just off the main thoroughfare. Quiet area. Room and bathroom very spacious and clean. One complaint - no tea/coffee making facilities. We had a very good deal with this hotel via lastminute.com and were extremely pleased

I usually read reviews, and by those I try to choose the hotel. Fortunately, I didnt have the time to check the reviews on trip advisor, so I book the hotel. I am not sure, did the people who left those horrible reviews came anywhere near the hotel or what kind of hotels are they used to stay in, but... More

I would be very wary about booking this hotel. In our room the carpet was worn in ridges with the floorboards and very badly stained. Curtains in poor condition, balcony doors unable to see through, didn't close properly so very noisy from bar down road and from bin collections in early hours. The wallpaper and paintwork was very grimy and... More

The only good thing about this hotel is the location as it is right in the middle of town. A part from that its not good at all. The reception is quite nice but the room is small with peeling wall paper and disgusting bathroom. The tap cant be closed so there was constantly water running. The noise from outside... More

Staying in Chiado & Carmo

Neighborhood Profile
Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.
