Although inexpensive I wouldn't want to pay anymore for this standard of accomodation, in fact have paid less for a lot better. The place is a little run down with peeling wallpaper, poor bathroom & rather shabby furniture. There is no internet access facility. Jaime on the front desk is very helpful but he did recommend a Fado restaurant who... more

First things first. The people at the front desk were just great. Very helpful and willing to answer all of my questions. I got a good room, the furniture is old but in good conditions, which gives the rooms a nice antique look. Very tidy, as well as the private WC with a great shower. Also the room had AC/Heating,... more

We had read so many reviews about the wonderful person at the front desk, that we decided this place was for us. The rooms were okay but very loud street noise, as far as the breakfast terrible. Location was wonderful I do have to say. The person at the desk, I would have fired. Three different people at the desk... more

We returned twice to the Insulana this summer, both times staying in a triple room. Helpful staff, clean rooms and the same dull breakfast. But there are so many other breakfast options in Baixa! more

I agree this hotel is in a great location but we paid 70 euros per night and thought the breakfast was terrible. We certainly didn't see any meat or cheese and on our last morning after 4 nights we saw someone else with orange juice. The breakfast is served on a tray at a coffee table or you have to... more

This is THE PLACE to stay in Lisbon. Right in the middle of downtown area. Reception on the second floor, reached by a lift. This lift has a compulsory stop there which means they control every one who arrives, which means top security to everyone. No frills, just what you need to a pleasant stay. Room of adequate dimensions, TV,... more

This place is best for its location and Jaime the front desk guy. It is in the Baixa Chiado which is important because it is at sea level. So, you walk up to the Baixa Alto or the Alfama for drinks and dinner and you stumble down to the Baixa Chiado for sleep. Jaime, who was born in the Alfama,... more

This is a perfect hotel if you want to be right in the centre of Lisbon with all the attractions and restaurants right on your doorstep. No hotel in Lisbon has a better location. The rooms were clean and tidy and the reception staff were very helpful and the breakfast adequate. I would recommend this to anyone, particularly for a... more

From this hotel you can walk to most of the major attractions, sites, good bars and restaurants.. For other attractions like Belem buses and trams (15E get a day rider ticket) can be found in one of the nearby squares. The hotel staff will help you. The hotel is a little shabby, but no problem. The decor is a little... more

I just stayed for 2 nights at this hotel right in the heart of the Baixa district in Lisbon. I had a single room (comes with a double bed), and it's small. The hotel and room is old, worn, but very clean. It would have been nice if they bothered to fix the broken shower head holder, but it's a... more
