The only reason why I've booked this hostel was because of the price and it seemed very nice as well. It was nice, but I wouldn't recommend it. The location is not the best, is far from downtown and it will cost you a lot to move around Lisbon. There are nos subways around that area, mainly buses and depending... More

This literally feels like it is your house, most relaxed environment, friendly staff workers and when I was there everyone is friendly in the back garden socialising and making new friends. I had a personal problem with my bank and one member of staff was really sympathetic and went out of his way to help me. Cant remember his name but... More

We only stayed in People's hostel one night, but i wish we could have stayed longer. The staff were friendly, the bathrooms were clean and the atmosphere was super chilled out. Nice to sit around the TV watching NCIS and relaxing. Was great :) No complaints!

The room was clearly dirty when I arrived. There are no heating or blankets enough during the winter in the room. The bathrooms are disgusting (very dirty) and there is no toilet paper or soap for washing hands. The breakfast is awful. The food ends and the staff do not replace it. We have to ask for everything, since a... More

The experience with this Hostel was simply a nightmare and we decided to stay one day less to not ruin our visit to Lisbon. The bathrooms were unbelievably dirty. There was no toilet paper and the smell was unbearable. The bedrooms were also disgusting and we also realized that the bedding and blankets were not cleaned, as well as the... More

The heading describes our stay very good... BED BUGS!! the staff was friendly but it comes NO really help, they said that the animals aren´t bed bugs but we took photos and informed us, the cleaning woman was annoyed when we said it (so I think it wasn´t the first time with bed bugs)... our holidays we´re not very relaxing... The location of the hostal is perfect. Not exactly in the center, but you have around at least 5 bus stations and trams. It is 2 minutes walking from Jeronimos Monastery, few minutes from the Tajo river, and also close to Discoveries monument and Vasco da Gama monument. Also, on the corner you can find great bakeries with traditional products.... More

I wrote this letter to the owner and received NO response at all. Clearly they are not even concerned about their reviewing base customers. "Dear Sir/Madam, As I have just been prompted to write a review of my stay at your hostel (from March 25th-31st), I wanted to communicate some issues I had with your hostel with you first. I... This hostel is in a perfect location: not too close or too far from the city. Nearby towns and great surf spots are easily accessible via the train, metro and bus lines. The guys behind the desk are very friendly and always willing to help however they can. The kitchen wasn't great but when one considers the price I really... More

Staying in Belem

Neighborhood Profile
Belem
Belém is the "capital of the Portuguese Discoveries" and a photographer's paradise. You can spend an entire day exploring this neighborhood: monuments (Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Tower, Monument to the Discoveries), museums (Coach Museum, Centro Cultural de Belém) and breathtaking views of the Tagus river will make your visit worth your time. Belém also offers a variety of restaurants and cafes, namely the famous - and delicious - "Pastéis de Belém" (typical Portuguese custard tarts; make sure you buy an extra box of those!). Easily accessible from Lisbon's historic center, Belém is a must-do, especially if you're spending more than one day visiting the Portuguese capital.
