Three of my friends and I stayed in the Berna Hotel this week for two nights on a room only basis. We had a bit of a bad experience with a taxi from the airport who overcharged us but that is not the hotels fault. On arrival we found the check-in a little slow but eventually got to the rooms. They were clean... more

We stayed at the Berna for one night as a result of our flight home being cancelled hence its location near the airport was advantageous. Room was small but very clean, the bathroom had recently been refurbished with an excellent shower. The view was awful - but for one night that wasn't an issue. The lifts can be rather slow... more

My boyfriend and I spent 5 days at here as part of our stay in Portugal. Hotel isn't centrally located in regards to tourist sites but is very close to the subway so it took only a few mins to get anywhere. Rooms are plain but clean. A decent value for the price. more

Stayed one night before catching early morning flight. Handy 24 hr service station directly over the road to re fuel before short drive to the airport. Great price smallish room but clean, didn't have breakfast. Close to metro to get downtown, undercover parking. more

Spent one night in this hotel in November 2005. part of a chain, no character and also quite claustrophobic, as lots of the reception / dining areas had no windows. Modern, clean, terrific water pressure in the bathrooms, but no ambience. Poor location in a dreary part of Lisbon, with nothing to do in the area. Close to the metro... more

We are staying at the Berna this week (Sep 2005). I have no complaints about the room sizes, but... ...they are FILTHY! I found grey, mouldy old french fries down the side of my bed! And, that´s not all - I watched incredulously as the maids in the breakfast room "cleaned" the tables. Their routine consisted of collecting all the... more

I agree with most of the other reviewers, but would say that the room sizes were not that small by European standards and the breakfast choices were surprisingly varied. The hotel has a decent bar/lounge area. My wife and I liked staying away from downtown, to see "real" neighborhoods in Lisbon; in this case, a pleasant, generally affluent commercial area. more

Although the Berna is a little north of "downtown" Lisbon (about a mile) the place was all I could ask for. Nice staff, nearly all speak English. Nice rooms. And the price includes a full breakfast daily from 7a to 10a. The works eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, coffee, tea, espresso, fruit, all breads, juice and cereals, on and on. All... more

Nice rooms. Shops and good resturants nearby(good quality and low prices, not a tourist area), but far away from the interesting places for tourists. Easy accessable by metro or bus. more

I thought that hotel rooms in NYC were small, but the Berna was even smaller! My husband and I had to negotiate where we would be in the room so that we did not collide into each other ("Honey, I'll be in the bathroom for a few minutes, so you can move about freely.") Although the hotel is not centrally... more
