Rooms do not correspond to description. A small dark room was given as a Superior Double Suite. Two hours were lost arguing on reception to get a better room which was still far away from the original description.

The hotel is really nice and picturesque, with an inner patio and offering shade and calm, in sharp contrast with the busy streets of Lisbon. It is located in an old and charming building and offers the real taste of historical Portuguese houses. I confirm what has been said by recent visitors, the rooms have been completely refurbished this year... More

we spent two lovely days in this long-established hotel. It has been there since the 19th century, and that is partially well visible, lately it has been taken over by new owners who promise to update and renovate it all. We just pray they do not overdo. Don't make it become another clone of a pretended heritage hotel, let it... More

You must be willing to compromise a little bit on the typical standards of popular hotel chains and you will be rewarded with a very special ambiance. Yes, you will find damp spots in walls and limescale corners in the limestone bathroom. York House is tidy but somewhat worn in quite a few aspects. But bear in mind: it is... More

We stayed two nights and the staff were extremely helpful with travel tips, taxi booking, etc. The breakfast courtyard creates a beautiful backdrop when eating in the morning. Although there are several stairs to get to the Hotel, it adds to the experience as this is an old building. From our room we had a view of the "Christ the... More

We stayed here one night after our flight had been cancelled, as we had had a drink there with colleagues at the same conference. The courtyard is wonderful, as is the rest of building. Our room and bathroom were clean and quiet (overlooking a second courtyard). Reception was really helfpful in printing our new boarding passes. We didn't eat there.... More

It didn't help that room 402 was so covered in dust and the floor teeming with ants. Someone had just not cleaned efficiently, but our complaints brought an instant response with the floor sprayed and cleared and the dust completely gone the following day. This hotel is under new ownership and clearly has huge promise of a return to the... More

The hotel was a delight - quiet rooms around a shady courtyard with trees and climbing shrubs. Apparently it used to be a convent and the arched corridors and stonework still bear traces of this. The location is midway between the main tourist centre of the city and the sites of Belem and is on several bus routes so a... More

I was recommened to stay here by someone who had held their wedding reception here several years ago. It is indeed a stunning property. Reminds me of some of the paradores in Spain. We only stayed one night but twice during our stay found the service in the courtyard/restaurant area totally non-existent. There just simply weren't enough staff working. They... More

Dear Guest, Since July 1st, 2014, York House has changed hands and is now writing another exciting part of its History. Remembering that the Hotel exists since 135 years, it is the reason why we have undertaken a deep and global renovation program. All rooms, including Classic rooms, Superior Rooms and Junior Suites are being renovated in order to provide... More

York House is a perfect location for either a peaceful stay or as a place to stay if you want to go on partying late. Lovely hotel with graceful and very helpful staff. The decor is a bit run down but it's part of the charm. I would stay here again and recommend it my friends too.
