The Metropole is the Hotel for you if you have very low expectations. It is dirty and everything is worn and sad. It is in a central location, however, since Lisbon is very spread out, it is slightly less valuable than it would be in other cities. The beds are very very uncomfortable. They are like sleeping on hardboard. I... More

The bed at thishotel was the hardest, smallest and most uncomfortable I have ever slept in. We were booked in for three nights, but transferred after one to another hotel. The furnishings are old and some are lovely art deco, but sheets had burn holes, the bathroom was not clean, thick black mould around the shower and tiny, grey, worn towels.... More

This hotel is absolutely central to the heart of Lisbon. Let me first start with the hotel rooms. There are a lot facing the Piazza and there are quite a number facing the outside small streets. Let me give you a hint. Take the outside rooms as opposed to other solely due to noise. Also the back rooms are quite a... More

Seeing the reviews on here from other people I had doubts about staying here but anyone who has said bad about this hotel cannot have had the same experience I did. Yes the hotel is old looking but it adds to the actual age of it and the experience. The location is perfect as you're in walking distance of the... More

If you want a small, centrally located hotel and can overlook its minor shortcomings (see other reviews), then this hotel should suit you. It has only 36 rooms located over 4 floors. If you prefer a room with a view, we would recommend booking a room overlooking Rossio Square - the higher floors, with balconies, offer the best views. Being... More

A charming hotel overlooking Rossio Sq. Still has all the 1930's furniture (some a little shabby) which adds to it's yester year splendour. The central location is fabulous - close to shops, restaurants & most importantly places of interest - Barrio Alto, the castle, the harbour & metro lines to get you to other sites if walking does not suit... We got to the hotel with ease - airport bus dropped us right at the front door. Staff was pleasant and helpful. The hotel's location is magnificent, right on Rossio Square and within walking distance to a lot of sights and tram stops. Restaurants right outside the door. The hotel however is so old. Definitely in need of an upgrade.... More

We chose this hotel because of it's location. We stayed for 7 nights and had a room overlooking Rossio Square, which is what we asked for. Great views of the square and castle and just a short walk to the River Tagus. It's close to shops and there are a multitude of restaurants close by too. The staff were friendly... More

The unprepossessing entrance between a restaurant and a pharmacy and a tired staircase belie the charm of this hotel. The first floor provides a delightful lounge overlooking Rossio Square and a bijou reception area. Bedrooms are on the floors above. The original character has been maintained in the Art Nouveau and, especially, Art Deco furnishings. The location is ideal for... More

The Hotel Metropole is an older hotel, but the rooms were cleaned everyday, the staff were quite friendly, and as with much of the rooms in Europe on a little of the older side( but that's part of its charm)... The hotel is situated in the middle of everything, and I do mean everything...Its location is the main square, and... More
