This hostel is just as you expect it: simple, clean, but good. Rooms small, but you will find most things you need. Just some shelves or a little desk would have been nice. There was a small living room and kitchen and they had everything you could ask for. Location of this hostel is good and the staff was always... More

Very nice hostel, located in a central position (a little noisy). The room was minimal but clean and confortable. Breakfast was included in the fare but it was really poor. You have to buy something from the supermarket in the neighborhood and you can store it in the kitchen.

A great place to stay. Met with a warm welcome. Brilliantly located minutes from waterfront piazzas, surrounded by restaurants and seconds from shopping area. Hostel on 3rd floor is reached by a steep staircase. It's a bit of a killer!! Ensuite room was smallish but clean, with adequate storage space, liquid soap and towels provided. A very basic breakfast was... More

Highly recommended, if you look for a nice "budget" place in the city centre. It's hotel type of a hostel, with simple furnishing, but perfectly clean. The staff is very welcoming and helpful, bathroom nice and clean, simple breakfast included and free wi-fi. Located on one of main streets, but no disturbing noise. Great quality and comfort for low price,... More

This small and familiar hostel is very good value for money with perfect location and kindly staff. Simple but clean accommodation with good facilities (towels, hair dryer for free). The hostel is on the fourth floor with no elevator, but it's clean, cheap and there is in the heart of Lisbon, hard by the Santa Justa tower and Rossio and... More

When I look for hotels the two main things I filter by is cost and location, the rest I will sacrifice. The cost was very cheap, at 20 pound a night for a room with two single beds. In that price you get breakfast that is left in the communal kitchen, including: coffee/tea, bread, jam and cereal. The breakfast is... More

The Nepali Staff at Happy Hostel can be seen always cleaning the cloths and floor and they keep the hostel very tidy, the only drawback is the hostel don’t have lift so if you have a lot of baggage like every travelers you will be breathing hard when you reach Top But the Hostel is central located on the touristic... The hostel is pefectly located, you can reach most main attraction on foot and it will only take 20 min or so. Bairro Alto and it's many restaurant and bars are also within walking distance. The beds were very confortable, the rooms where clean and we were also provided with towels, which was a nice touch for a hostel. The... More

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighborhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
