We stayed four nights in Amaya, with a lovely terrace and view of the river. The room was comfortable and very spacious. The bathroom was luxurious, we particularly loved the shower. The building itself is very beautiful, and well located in Alfama. We loved the feeling of coming back to a 'home' each evening. What the Palacete has to most... More

We stayed for one night meeting up with friends who were already in the hotel. We had the Lola suite which has a view of the River, although a huge cruise liner took up most of the view the night we were there. Arriving by car is a little awkward as the hotel does not have parking. But we were... More

With time after our wedding for only the first installment of a honeymoon (a week), this was the perfect venue. We took the large apartment at the top of the house, from whose morning room overlooking the quayside one could mount by spiral stairs the tower at the top - and even a private sun terrace a further floor up.... Highly impressed with Palacete Charariz D'El Rei. Beautiful hotel with only a few rooms. The hotel building is and old rich house which was converted to hotel a few years ago. The staff is extremely welcoming and speaks English perfectly. We had Lucia suite on the top floor - the smallest suite with no view, but it was still much... More

I had the pleasure of staying in the tower suite here very recently and can honestly say I've not stayed in a more beautiful hotel, or experienced such superlative service - the building is incredible too. Cannot recommend more. Amazing.

From the moment you arrive you are made to feel very special as a guest staying here. The staff are young and very keen to show you around ''The House'' as they call it. You are given a guided tour before being escorted to your room. We were staying for 3 nights in Suite Amaya which had a River view... More

My daughters and I spent 2 days at the hotel. The staff was very welcoming and they went out of their way to make our brief stay very memorable. Rooms were unique - charming, yet very clean and spacious. Breakfast was amazing. Locale was perfect to visit other sights in Lisbon. Hotel has an outdoor veranda that overlooks the river... More

Sadly we didn't stay at the hotel but were recommended to have drinks on the terrace. The building is stunning and everyone was so friendly and the service outstanding. Sunday brunch is the thing, but sadly we were only in Lisbon Wednesday to Saturday. Perfect location for exploring the city. When we travel to Lisbon again this will be our... More

It's a charming small hotell with only a few rooms. Breakfast is fantastic, and so is the hotell staff. Our room was huge, with kitchen and living room, and a nice view of the river. The room, and whole house, is clean and are furnished in a mixed style of really old, 1950s and new. You must like a hard... More

Have the hotel arrange your pick up, if the driver drops you off at the front, you have many stairs to climb with baggage. Or, get very good instructions so you enter properly. When we first arrived I was concerned, we came in the main door, which is down a narrow alley. Once they open the door it's like stepping... More
