We had a great stay at Casa Pombal, the manager and staff went out of their way to help us and recommended places for us to see. Our room at the top was superb and I am sure we had the best view in Coimbra from our bedroom window. One night we even heard a male fado singer. Such attention... more

Although initially a bit taken a back by the decor of the place upon arrival, as it is very quirky, any reservations I had were quickly quashed. The dutch women running the casa pombal was exeedingly friendly and helpful, explaining where to go and what to see. Rooms were spotless and cleaned daily. Breakfast was the best spread we had... more

I loved Casa Pombal. It is in the historic, University district, which is terrific for sightseeing. The street that Casa Pombal is on doesn't look like much, but behind the door to the guesthouse is a colorful, cozy and welcoming haven. The women that run the place (Dutch, English & Portuguese speaking) were extremely helpful, suggesting walking routes for us... more

We stayed here for two nights. Our room was pretty small and very basic. Nevertheless, the b&b, run by two wonderful and typical Dutch ladies, has a certain charm. The breakfast was very decent and neat. There's also free internet! For dinner, they advised us to go to "Flor de Coímbra" down in the center, a name I will not... more

We stayed in the Casa Pombal for one night. As far as we could tell, this is the only hotel up on the hill next to the university, and if that is the location you want, this is a good place to be. It is on a very narrow street, and parking is a bit difficult in the daytime when... more

The place is nice, clean, very basic, but stylish decorated. You can notice a real concern on making the place look nice and cosy, with wallpapers, posters and lots of Porugal guidebooks. The owners are extremely polite, make you feel very welcomed and special and will be more than happy to give you information about touristic places. The location is... more

A perfect B&B! - Location is great and quite unique: in the upper (university) part of town. Parking is, therefore, a bit of an issue, but can easily be solved by using a paid parking spot when arriving during office hours, and moving the car just around the corner once university staff and students have moved theirs. - Room was... more

Definiteley not for anyone with more than a small holdall or rucksack as there are LOTS of steep and narrow stairs to get to your garret;or for anyone not prepared to trundle suitcases through cobbled streets. Rooms very basic and extremely pokey. Breakfasts not at all as described. Having said all that the owners are friendly and helpful. Took us... more

We had read great reviews about Casa Pombal and were dissapointed. It was reaaallllly frayed in the edges. The beds were the ones which fold up - army beds( maybe). Very uncomfortable. They turn off the electricity at 11:30 pm or so - the heat gets turned off too. It was really cold in the morning. The breakfast was rolls... more
