We stayed in the old part of the property and it was charming. The floor creak ad the beds were a bit soft but it is a lovely property with pretty gardens, an attentive staff and all very peaceful. Dinner was sumptuous with a first rate staff and delicious food. The dining room was packed and no one was in... More

We stayed at this hotel for two nights. On our arrival, we were upgraded to a suite on the ground or. Unfortunately, I didn't like the room and we were given another room on the first floor of the old Palace. This was a splendid room, a little old-fashioned maybe, but a nice room nevertheless. However, it smelt of tobacco... More

This hotel is an old palace with plenty of history, just outside the centre of Coimbra, which you can see on the top of the hill. We were upgraded to a suite at the front and it was huge. Wooden floors, massive bathroom, wonderful amenities. We ate one time at the Michelin starred restaurant and you can expect that quality.... More

We had a most agreeable stay here; our room (in the old part) was comfortable and well equipped - I wish our home bed-linen were as good! The public parts of the old building are spacious and handsome, though the modern extension is an aesthetic affront. Keen birders will be able to watch Short-toed Treecreepers from the breakfast table and... More

If the poor Ines De Castro knew that her tragic death is -after centuries- still deftly exploited for commercial purposes would certainly shed more tears .... This thriving business is also part of the hotel "Quinta Das Lacrimas" [with attached: "Fontes das Lacrimas” (Fountain of Tears), restaurant “Pedro and Ines”, wine “Pedro and Ines”, etc.]. The Hotel, which is a... More

We stayed at this hotel on the recommendation of a restauranteur in Lisbon. And it surpassed every expectation. It's located in what had been the home of some very wealthy people over the centuries. It's been preserved beautifully with the necessary changes to modernize the conveniences and to make it into a hotel. There are three buildings - the main... More

This is a grand hotel from the very moment you step inside. The rooms are spacious, colonial yet modern. The gardens behind the hotel (where Ines de Castro was supposedly murdered) are also a tourist attraction. If you like golf, the hotel has a course. Breakfast is well served. Though not located in the city center, you can walk the... More

We stayed one night at this hotel. The hotel is an historical building with an interesting historical garden at the back. The staff is excellent and the restaurant is very good. The location is not at the center of the city. The room was spacious and comfortable. There was no heating at the bathroom, a major flaw for this kind... More

Quinta das Lagrimas Palace We were winter guests and that might account for the sense of slightly faded glory that we felt when we arrived. It’s an old building (14th century) and while still very beautiful, did have a sense of benign neglect, particularly from the outside. It’s old fashioned and our room was clean but small and utilitarian –... More
