From the moment you first enter this tired and unrestored "palace" you will regret being here. The rooms are old and dingy, poorly lit and ugly. The woman who checked us in was unhelpful and frankly misleading, though the remaining staff were pleasant. There was only one spare plug in the room and no internet service in the breakfast room.... Lovely stay at this beautiful hotel.Bedroom in the original house was impressive with huge ceilings, deep wooden shutters and very elegant double bed. Loads of space with seperate washroom from bathroom. However there did seem to be a wide range of accomodation linked to the hotel so perhaps we were lucky.Breakfast was in the rather boxy annex, but there was plentty... We enjoyed the story about the love affair between Pedro and Ines, walking through the botanical gardens to find the spring. The rooms are luxurious with beautiful bed linens. Breakfast is huge with hot and cold items and lovely service. The outdoor pool is very nice. Service at the reception was outstanding. Since the hotel is a 15 minute walk... More

This is a hotel located in a park property across the river from Coimbra centre, at a distance of approx. 20 minutes walk. The property consists of a historic palace buildings, refurbished outbuildings and a modern wing. We have stayed in the outbuilding and received an upgrade to a (modern) suite, which was nice but we would actually prefer to... More

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of my 70th birthday celebrations. We had a lovely palace suite No 4, on the corner with nice views. Had the complimentary wine in the evening which was a nice touch. Had a light meal in the courtyard one night which was really nice and the wine was not expensive for a... More

We stayed in this palace hotel last week while on a personal trip. My wife and I purposefully booked it at the end of our journey to find peace and relaxation before returning home. We got an upgrade to a master room with a private courtyard- this was a great surprise and very welcome. Now, here are my facts, hope... More

We were disappointed with our visit to this hotel. It is greatly in need of some refurbishment by the owners. On the way to our room, we found dirty carpet, a large pool with green water, and all of the lights burned out in the hallway causing us to grope around to find the right doorway and key lock. The... We received a very warm welcome at this lovely hotel. Before being taken to our room we were told about the history of Quinta das Lagrimas and shown some of the very interesting old prints dating back to the 1700's. The staff were very attentive and we're willing to help in any way they could to make our stay as... More

We would rate our welcome on arrival as 0/10 . The employee at reception could not have been less welcoming. She did not look up or make eye contact. She did not smile, spoke to the desk and we could not hear her. Other staff were friendlier but efficiency and customer service were not a priority (the exception was the... More

Located at 'Quinta das Lágrimas', feel yourself as a part of the love story of Inês and Pedro. They lived their prohibited love at 'Fonte dos Amores' and she found her death just some steps from there, at 'Fonte das Lágrimas'. It's a great moment of Portugal. After his father's death, Pedro was declared king and made Inês' body the... More
