We were there as a family of 19 from Aug 9-20/09. About 1/2 the rooms were newly renovated. The renovated rooms were awesome. They had flatscreen tvs and lots of glass and beautiful furniture. We stayed at the Vila Nova (2 couples) for 5 nights. Borh couples were so happy to be in a large, very comfortable room after a not-so-pleasant experience in Faial. Situation excellent, if you like to walk around in the city´s narrow steets. The citadel, the port and the "Turismo", from which the bus trips start, is only in 10 minutes´ walk distance. We stayed for 3 nights at Hotel Ponta Delgada during Sept 04. We paid 90E and it was definitely not worth it, maybe if you can get a rate of 60E it would be.
