This place has all you would expect from such a site: spacious rooms and corridors, large windows for good daylight, charming salons, antique (but well maintained) furniture, modern bathrooms with a design matching the old walls. It is an oasis of calm once you have entered the yard. Breakfast was good: high-quality local products served in a comparably small dining... More

We cycled here from Furnas and it was initially a little tricky to find. The exterior location isn't exactly charming - it's on a main road, opposite a large modern building and right next to a garage. Oh dear, we thought, this is going to be ghastly - but then we rang the old fashioned bell and the door opened... More

We stayed in the last week of May and I have to concur with all the favourable comments listed by previous reviewers. We loved the simplicity of the whole experience and of the three hotels we stayed in whilst in the Azores this was by far our favourite. If you want the 21st Century luxuries such as a tv, radio,... We visited Sao Miguel to watch whales, we stayed here the first part of may for seven days, a stunning and really unique place, the whole atmosphere is relaxing, with original features all around. We had a room in the Southeast corner which had its own large balcony. On the balcony were two reclining sun chairs and a table and chairs.... More

Remember staying in this beautiful place some years ago while visiting Sao Miguel. Nice terraces, good views, great room with beautiful rays of light in the morning, beautiful corridors and furniture. All very relaxing. Special place, really.

Beautiful B&B in an old convent. Beautifully restored with tasteful artefacts. When you first walk it your senses are hit by the slightest hint of old incense embedded in the flag stone floor. The rooms in the main building are a good size and we had a good view out over the pool. The pool is a good size with... More

It sure is unexpected. Before coming here, I have read the reviews on Tripadvisor with the mixed comments. But with the warm welcome of Manuel and his family, all doubts disappeared. Once the door of the convent opens you do not look at five stars hotel like there are dozens but at a comfortable residence with loads of character. Doors... More

We loved it here! Full of character and interest. Big rooms and excellent breakfasts. Not sure where the comments about the beds being uncomfortable come from - we found them fine. Really accommodating owners and the pool is much bigger than we expected. Well worth booking.

We had a wonderful stay. The building is as described by others inspiring on the inside but not on the outside. Great views from communal terrace and good pool and garden. Wonderful breakfasts and friendly hosts. Stay if you want to experience local colour and tradition rather than a standard hotel. We found the walk into town for local restaurants... More

If you have ever dreamed to stay in a convent or monastery then this is the place to go. It is not a conventional hotel at all.The location has got something magic. As expected, the place is quiet and peaceful. The swimming pool is the modern touch. Rooms are rather big and the breakfast is excellent. If you are ready... More
