An amazing place, totally unexpected ...step through a nondescript door beside the petrol station off the roundabout coming into Vila Franca do Campo - and into a different world. This former convent has been extensively renovated with great care and attention - providing wonderful airy corridors, cloisters, hidden stairways and high ceilinged rooms, packed with interesting religious-themed art and furniture.... The Convento is more like a b'n'b with nice view in a stunning old building, so do not expect a hotel with the usual service and you can spend a happy time there. We felt like prince and princess and spent 4 nights there (100 instead of 125 euro p. Night) in a generous and charming room, very clean, good... More

I was very uncertain of whether to book this place or not but have never regretted the decision. The experience is absolutely unique - something i have never seen before. In addition to atmospehere the amenities (breakfast, pool) are also of very high quality!

We spent a night there and my husband was having hard time deciding whether to stay with them because he read the negatives from other reviews, and I am happy that we still decided to come to this Convent. The room is very clean, unique with a touch of being a convent in its past. This place is very casual... More

A nice place with a pleasent and special flair as others have explained in detail before. But: Make sure you agree on a rate. We were told we could choose between rooms at 100€ (double bed) or 125€ (two single beds). At arrival we were shown 2 rooms with double beds and were charged... 125€. Overpriced for the place in... We stayed at the hotel for 5 nights in September 2014. The hotel was amazing and our hosts were welcoming and friendly. Our room was superb overlooking the swimming pool and gardens with the sea in the background. The hotel was very comfortable with a relaxing lounge area with drinks available. The breakfasts were amazing especially the fresh pineapple every... More

We were on our honeymoon and our wonderful travel company (Archipelago Azores) had booked us the best room in the place- with a balcony overlooking the ocean and the pool. From the outside it didn't look anything special, but the moment you entered you were taken back in time to the world of the convent. They have modernised in a... More

This place has all you would expect from such a site: spacious rooms and corridors, large windows for good daylight, charming salons, antique (but well maintained) furniture, modern bathrooms with a design matching the old walls. It is an oasis of calm once you have entered the yard. Breakfast was good: high-quality local products served in a comparably small dining... More

We cycled here from Furnas and it was initially a little tricky to find. The exterior location isn't exactly charming - it's on a main road, opposite a large modern building and right next to a garage. Oh dear, we thought, this is going to be ghastly - but then we rang the old fashioned bell and the door opened... More

We stayed in the last week of May and I have to concur with all the favourable comments listed by previous reviewers. We loved the simplicity of the whole experience and of the three hotels we stayed in whilst in the Azores this was by far our favourite. If you want the 21st Century luxuries such as a tv, radio,...
