Breathtaking views, excellent accommodation, friendly service, near ocean waves - listening to the waves while sleeping, robust breakfast. You would need your own rental car with GPS, or travel using public transportation. An easy access to a major highway.

We were in Caloura Hotel for 3 nights, and LOVED every second of it. Caloura itself is not a town, a city or a village, it's just place centrally located in the middle of the island. It is a bit tricky to get, but that's not an issue if you have a rental (which we recommend on the island). The... More

We stayed at Hotel Caloura for 7 nights and it was a pleasant experience. It's true that access to the hotel is a bit more remote compared to other hotels in Ponte Degalda but if you have a rental car, it's a close drive from the airport. In fact, the hotel is centrally situated within the island and not far... More

This hotel is a jewel tucked away deep in a little town. It sits on the coast above lava rock cliffs and a crystal blue ocean. Quite an adventure getting there as the streets are typically European, but thankfully there are adequate signs to find the hotel. I loved that the hotel was in a more residential area of the... It was my first time in San Miguel, and Caloura was our first stop of many over the course of a several week European trip. We were so pleasantly surprised with Caloura. The setting is stunning, set on the beach with views from the restaurant and many of the rooms. The breakfast is delicious and there are many options. The... More

Just returned from a 6 night stay at the Caloura Hotel Resort. LOVED it. Beautiful lobby, breathtaking views from every room, decent buffet breakfast included in the very reasonable nightly room rate. The restaurant's evening buffet seemed a little pricey but an a la carte menu was available much more reasonably priced. On a visit to the upstairs bar we... More

I found an incredible deal for Azores on Travelzoo and stayed at the Caloura Hotel Resort for 7 days. I was drawn to this hotel by the picturesque ocean views - however, if you're looking for a more central location with nearby restaurants/bars in walkable distance, I would recommend a hotel in Ponta Delgada instead. The lobby and communal areas... More

I was quite disappointed as I chose to stay at Caloura based on the review on this hotel which seem in retrospect, largely inaccurate. Perhaps everyone else in the Trip Advisor community is low maintenance but I expect certain things from a "four star" hotel, which are fairly standard in the world (I have traveled to Europe and generally have... The hotel is fresh and very clean. Rooms have a great view over the ocean, and some rooms even overlook the nearby quiet beach. The food in the restaurant might not be the most exiting, but it is more than ok. Breakfast has everything you'd like; eggs, bread, cereals etc. Be sure to taste the croissant - Yummy! The pool... My Mom and I spent a week here and loved it. The staff is very friendly and helpful but not intrusive. The hotel is lovely and views incredible - every room and the dining room are all ocean-facing and beautiful. The rooms are simple but clean, bright and have great balconies. The location isn't near the bigger towns but it's... More
