I use this hotel for an overnight stay before the flight home if I can't get a suitable flight out of Pico. I particularly like it because it's so relaxing, it's understated, quiet, comfy and the staff just can't do enough for me. Superb view of the coast and of course Pico from the upper floors. I booked a standard... More

After climbing a steep hillroad (I was exhausted) we made it to entrance. Welcoming and friendly staff showed us our room. All OK in room, even some fruit waiting for us. Fantastic view to island Pico from the balcony. Tired so we tried the dinner there too. Quite OK fish served by helpful but inexperienced staff. Breakfast next morning was... More

Had 3 nights here whilst sailing from Antigua to the UK and fancied a few nights in a proper bed. OK it was January so clearly not high season, but for 2 of us it cost £99 for the 3 nights inclusive of full breakfast booked through hotels.com. Amazing value. The room was spacious and clean. A balcony looked over... More

I've read several bad reviews about this hotel and I have to say that I absolutely don't agree with them.First of all you have to know that on the island of Faial there are only three hotels and Horta hotel has the nicest location. It is not one of the modern resorts you would expect in any place crowded with tourists... We had a lovely week -staff were friendly and helpful. The views from the rooms were excellent - each day the view of Pico was different. Pool refreshing. Nice breakfast. inter-connecting rooms were perfect for our family.it is up a hill- 10 mins walk but the upside is that this gives you a wonderful view (all rooms look out to... More

This Hotel is bad, bad, bad... Starting from the localization... Near from the centre but you have to climb a steep hill. The entrance seems like you are entering a garage. The corridors smell like dust and humidity. The roofs in the corridor are made of wood, but the humidity that comes from the air conditioning hoses, make the roof... More

We stayed for a week in this hotel in the beginning of August 2014. There are so many wrong things with it, I'm not even sure were to start. The hotel corridors and rooms were carpeted, but it was dirty and clearly stained from humidity. Also, the rooms had a musty, damp, smell. This was most unpleasent. It was very... More

We have just stayed at Horta Hotel for a week and it was a thoroughly pleasant stay. We had two interconnecting rooms and they were a superb base for our holiday. The hotel staff are friendly and polite and couldn't do enough for us, the bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious, very clean and well equipped, with fantastic views and there... More

It's a nice hotel with friendly staff. From here its a 3 minute walk to the harbor of failal. We also had a nice view of pico from the balcony. The interior looks a little simple, but it's all clean and wel maintained. Also free wifi for the guests which does tend to get a little slow at peak-hours.

Nice Hotel, where you are immediately downtown trough a small stairs directly next to the spectacular swimming pool, with a fabulous view to the neighbouring island of Pico. You can’t find a more appropriate setting. The rooms are ok, if a little old-fashioned. Some refurbishing is starting to be needed. The breakfast is very nice, with a decent variety. And... More
