We were put up at the Faial Resort Hotel by SATA as our flight was canceled due to bad weather. I was excited to go to a four-star hotel. My smile faded when walking to our room. There were stains all over the hallway carpets. The room was no better; stains on the carpet, walls, curtains, chairs, furniture (I could... More

Of the three hotels we stayed at in the Azores, this was our favourite hotel. The rooms were spacious and well appointed, although we found the beds rather hard and of course they had the plastic undersheets on which seem to be standard in the Azore hotels. However, staff were very friendly and helpful and the restaurant/breakfast room and pool... More

There were two areas in Fayal Hotel (Faial Resort Hotel) that impressed us most during three days stay in Horta: - Bar with photos on its walls that show how Faial island, Horta city and the hotel buildings looked some 75 years ago during golden days of Western Union and PanAm. After spending a day walking through the city it’s... More

I came to this hotel because of disrupted travel due to weather conditions, but then after one day stay was sorry to leave this charming hotel. Hotel staff was extremely helpful from the very first moment I arrived. All with smile on their faces and with efficient service. Also great food from a la carte menu. Wish I could spend... More

Staff at reception was friendly enough. Room smelled mouldy and I think they're aware of the issue as when we arrived back in the room just after housekeeping left it smelled of air fresher. Nice pool overlooking the marina and a view of Pico and the ocean. Too bad the pool bar closes at 7! The old waiter is incredibly... More

The location is good but the hotel is old and outdated. The room was not really clean because its so old, old carpet and old beds. Hotel should be renovated because now its no longer 4 stars. Breakfast was ok, swimmingpool is ok.

After staying in a tiny cramped rental apartment for more than a week, my husband and I decided to check into a hotel for our last few nights in Horta. Our room was comfortable and clean. Beds very comfortable. Bathroom bright and roomy with a full tub. Breakfast was included and it was excellent!!! Pool is spectacular and service was... More

We stayed here for three nights in a room in the Sao Jorge villa. A beautiful room with your own terrace looking out into the garden. Breakfast is good with a lot of choice in bread, fruits, local cheese and marmelade!

I stayed here for 8 nights for a conference in June 2014. I did not expect much from the pictures, but I was pleasantly surprised by a number of factors, most important of which was the friendly service and hospitality. The staff went out of their way whenever someone needed something. A few things to know: Wifi was spotty and... More
