We stayed here for 3 nights and were very happy to have done so. This is one of the newest Pousadas Portugal and a bit off the beaten track. They have done a wonderful job of restoration in the main "Palace " building and the grounds are delightful. The rooms are new and extend out from the main building and are... More

This hotel is an old country house partly restored. The old building is owned by the state and the hotel, new concrete block, is run by a hotel group. Not a marriage made in heaven. Food is not good, new modern furniture is ugly, the modern bar in the lovely old building is horrendous! The rooms are very modern and... More

This review is not comprehensive due to the brevity of our stay. All staff were professional, friendly and very competent. The setting was absolutely lovely. Rooms modern and really comfortable. The public areas were beautiful but not intimidating. It is a little expensive but worth it. The comments in previous posts are accurate.

Beautiful old building sympathetically restored - well it will be when its finished. Apparently this restoration has been ongoing for many years and is still unfinished, though the public parts of the hotel are stunning. The older part of the building is just what you see in the pictures except the interiors have to be seen. Breakfast on the terrace... More

I live in Portugal and often bring friends to see this beautiful Palacio for tea or a beer on the terrace after a visit to the Roman Villa at Milreu. The hotel is happy for the public to come and see the salas, which are well worth a visit. The beautiful gardens are being restored and a walk around the... More

This is a really wonderful hotel: it is an old pink castle which was completely renovated and extended with a very modern and avant-garde guest room wing. The old hotel serves as reception area, bar and hotel, while the guest rooms are in the new part. We stayed there for 3 nights at the end of February, and believe it... More

We didn't stay here though I really wish we did. We just paid a visit to the Palace which is free. The young man behind reception was very helpful and friendly and was very knowledgeable about the history of the palace. The gardens were nice with fruit trees and flowers, could be better maintained though. The gardens of the palace... More

This place is not really in Faro; it’s about fifteen minutes away. But it’s right off the main highway and far away enough to be quiet. I’m not sure why you would stay in Faro unless it’s for the beach. We stayed here as a halfway point and to experience the Algarve And because they have an old garden. It’s... More

Had 4 lovely relaxing nights in this sympathtically modernised and adapted palace. The mix of new and old has been carried out well, with the hotel having long bright corridors and rooms. Our room was towards the far end of the hotel and very quiet, with views towards Faro, over orange trees. Very large room and bed (which was a... More

This is another Pousada, which is being brought back to its former life. However, the bedrooms, which contour the hillside, are modern with large large comfortable beds and ours, No 114, provided splendid views over Faro. The long corridors are stark and minimulistic in comparison with the public rooms, which have retained the features of its days as a palace.... More
