Just spent one week at the Riu again in late October. Having stayed here many times over the past seven years, we were very sad to find it was closing for good under the RIU banner. The front line staff we have come to know were demoralised as to know fully what was happening to them. This didn't detract from... More

Just completing our 2 week stay to this beautiful hotel. The staff are the best we have ever encountered, all being friendly and helpful. The building is superb, classic foyer, bar that is very relaxing and adjacent entertainment room for nightly shows. The bedrooms are well fitted and comfortable. Our 2 gripes are firstly the food presentation.Breakfast was often lukewarm, bacon had bones in it and eggs had... We found the hotel to be excellent and though we have only been once feel like many regular visitors it is a pity it is being taken over by another company. From what we heard it is going to be completely changed. Yes some bits were a bit tired but far prefer bathrooms the way they are than with basin... More

We stayed here in the last week of September as a family of 3 generations from 3-60. The building itself and the decor are quite dated and when the lease is taken over I'm sure a refurb will be in order, but everything was clean and pleasant. The entertainment reflected the average age of the guests at this hotel (older)... More

Have just had our final stay at this wonderful hotel. Standards as usual were excellent. Everywhere immaculately clean. Food choices as good as ever. Can't understand some of the previous negative comments. For the price of this hotel, and bearing in mind that it is buffet service serving several hundred people each night, I don't think it could be faulted.... More

there are many reviews on this subject, but I would like to add my well wishes to all the staff for their future. special mention to louis, bar supervisor and fabio waiter. 2 really nice people, also to nelson and valerio both waiters who were mad as hatters, and at times better than the entertainment, riu you are losing some... Just arrived back after a very nice 2 week stay, have been coming here twice a year for 4 years and are sad that Riu will no longer be owning it at the end of the month. We now understand that the new company will be doing a refurb and the Hotel will be Adults only on HB & AI... More

Just back from our second visit to this Hotel , from 30 degrees to pouring rain and a realisation that its going to change. While we were there it was announced the Hotel was to be re named the Sensimar Falaesia and be in the Thomsons 2015 brochure with Half Board and All Inclusive options so may not be for... More

We are aware that the Hotel is closing soon for re-burb and will re-open next year under a new banner and not RIU. You could say therefore that this is a nugatory review, but I thought I would write something about our stay. We left the Hotel on the 2nd Oct after a 2 week stay. Staff were absolutely superb,... Date of stay 18 Sept - 2 Oct. Obituary for the RIU Palace Algarve which will be finishing under this particular company at the end of this month. Oh dear!!! When is a RIU Palace not a RIU Palace? It would appear that this applies when the hotel is coming towards the end of its lease and any points/criticisms made... More
