Riu standards are very high in all departments from service, quality of food, cleanliness etc. The hotel is spotless and all the rooms are very good. The food was very good and varied to suit all tastes. Fantastic position, love the walk down to beach and into the small center with bars, restaurants and shops. There was a visible management... This is a fantastic hotel, in a great location. Coach buses come periodically to take you on excursions, gorgeous nearby beach, and a beautiful facility. The food lives up to the expectations and so do the shows. Very friendly staff and a clean hotel to go along with it. Alhos d'Agua is generally a beautiful and interesting town, located in... More

My wife and I visited this hotel for 10 days commencing 25th September 2014 as part of a Thomson package. On arrival, it was immediately clear that this was a well managed hotel worthy of its 4 stars. We fully agreed with the brochure's description of 'hushed elegance'. The public area are spacious and airy with marble floors and an... More

Loved the hotel, loved the decor, loved everything about it. The room furniture was dark, typical Portuguese style but in good condition and we loved it. We will go again and hope!! Not sure about the very white look in the modern rooms.... Many thanks to the poster for this preview. Who would have thought that so many people would have... More

Like many reviewers on this forum, we've enjoyed many happy holidays at the Riu Palace Algarve! The staff are incredible, the hotel is impeccably clean and the food is delicious! We were saddened to discover last year, that Riu's 10 year lease had expired and the hotel would be under new ownership. It seems refurbishments are taking place and the... More

A terrific hotel for a relaxed holiday with great beach and hotel staff that cannot do enough for you.The village is lovely and we have found the locals so friendly. We have loved holidaying at the Palace for the past 7 years and are devastated that it is closed.Does anyone know if there is a new company taking over the running... Just spent one week at the Riu again in late October. Having stayed here many times over the past seven years, we were very sad to find it was closing for good under the RIU banner. The front line staff we have come to know were demoralised as to know fully what was happening to them. This didn't detract from... More

Just completing our 2 week stay to this beautiful hotel. The staff are the best we have ever encountered, all being friendly and helpful. The building is superb, classic foyer, bar that is very relaxing and adjacent entertainment room for nightly shows. The bedrooms are well fitted and comfortable. Our 2 gripes are firstly the food presentation.Breakfast was often lukewarm, bacon had bones in it and eggs had... We found the hotel to be excellent and though we have only been once feel like many regular visitors it is a pity it is being taken over by another company. From what we heard it is going to be completely changed. Yes some bits were a bit tired but far prefer bathrooms the way they are than with basin... More

We stayed here in the last week of September as a family of 3 generations from 3-60. The building itself and the decor are quite dated and when the lease is taken over I'm sure a refurb will be in order, but everything was clean and pleasant. The entertainment reflected the average age of the guests at this hotel (older)... More
