We dont know if Portugese standards are lower than Spain or Greece, but this was definitely not up to the usual 4 star hotels we have stayed in. Room was clean but basic with bonus of 2 pillows per bed. Following other reviews comments about noise at front of hotel, we paid £225 extra for sea/pool view - big mistake!... more

We stayed here from 6th June 2009, for 1 week. I would def recommend this hotel, it was our first time in Portugal, and travelled two teenagers, in the party also. Myself and my husband are 28, and the resort catered very well for our needs. This hotel was worth it's 4 stars, but the dog and duck bar is... more

My husband and I stayed at the Vila Gale Cerro Alagoa at the beginning of June for a week. We have been to albufeira many times so we decided to book up a 4* Hotel for my husband's 30th. When we arrived at the hotel check in was manic and our rooms were not ready, we had an early morning... more

Just back from a long weekend with my husband and another couple. (celebrating 25th wedding anniversary) This hotel was ideally placed between Old Town and the Strip. Though I much preferred the Old Town. Restaurants and little bars come alive at night. Convenient to Fishermans Beach though a bit of a hill back up - take a taxi if tired.... more

I'd never been to Portugal before, so read lots of online reviews before spending out for my annual holiday abroad. Thank you TripAdvisor reviewers - you came up trumps yet again! Apologies if I'm repeating what so many other people have already said - it is hard to tell you exactly how good this hotel is! HOTEL: From the moment... more

Arrived in Hotel to be greeted by friendly reception staff who allocated our room , we had pre-booked a Sea View room which we would highly recommend as the views are great looking over the pool and the sea to the left. If you dont manage to get one all the rooms look good but some do overlook a main... more

My friend and I have just returned from a weeks stay at this brilliant hotel. The rooms and all facilities were exceptionally clean and well cared for. The staff couldn't do enough for you to make your stay memorable. The breakfasts were incredible with everything you could wish for...we had our breakfast in the morning and didn't need anything else... more

3 day long weekend trip booked through mercury Direct. This hotel is quite off putting from the front. There's lots of seagull droppings over the upper windows and the brown metal balcony covers and off white paintwork make it look a lot less appealing than it's 4 star neighbour the Brisa Sol. We felt that all the public areas were... more

Having booked the Vila Gale, Cerro Alagoa for a last minute honeymoon I was dubious but hve to say very very plesantly surprised. The hotel was 4 star with 5 star service, reception staff lovely, hotel modern and spotless. Maids, bar staff, conceriege cannot possibly do enough for you. The outdoor pool is immaculate and the indoor spa is unreal!!!... more
