I received a confirmation of my reservation on 10 March 09 (more then 5 monts before my arrival). On 21 July I wrote them in order to know if they accept credit cards, and I've been informed that they CANNOT ACCOMODATE! If I had not written them, I would have known it the day before my arrival (and I had... more

Yes, we did stay at the Policarpo a while ago so maybe this review is out of date. We liked the pensao since it was inside the city walls and close to most everything including restaurants, the Cathedral, University area, main plaza, Roman ruins, and more. We were there for two nights. There is plenty to do and see in... more

We stayed in two rooms with ensuite bathroom. One of the rooms had a bit of a damp problem and smelt a bit mouldy - the other room was basic but nicer with plenty of space and some lovely old furniture. The rooms were both very clean though the bathrooms were quite old and were showing a lot of wear.... more

We booked a room in Pensao Policarpo for six nights. The first two nights, our room was on the lower level. The room was quite small; smelled moldy; and had no heat whatsoever. The bathtub in the shared bathroom was very worn-out and not overly clean. But, heh, we were getting the authentic 16th century/17th century experience. Our third, fourth,... more

This historical manse is a short stroll from the city centre and has tons of ambiance. The rooms are pretty basic, as are the bathrooms. Nevertheless it is worth the reasonable cost for its location, friendly staff and simple but adequate breakfast. Miraculously it has its own small parking lot, a tremendous plus in cramped Portuguese cities. more

Foolishly we went to Evora on Easter weekend without a reservation. We figured more people would rather want to be at the beach instead of the hot inland. Anyway, the entire city was booked and the amazing tourist office made some calls for us. This place seemed to be the only place left AND it had parking. It is right... more

The building is clearly signposted from the main city gates, which was very useful as Evora is a total maze to navigate! It also has parking, which was vital as there is literally nowhere to park inside the town. The receptionist was very friendly and spoke good English. The rooms themselves were very basic, the bathroom was pretty awful and... more

Pensao Policarpo is located in a 17th century manor inside the city wall. The rooms and bathrooms are quite old fashioned but very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It's within easy walking distance to all the main sites and has it's own small carpark. Breakfast is simple but good. more

Stayed here for 1 night. Had a lovely spacious room with nice floral furnishings and hand-painted wooden furniture. The ensuite was pretty old, but it wasn't a problem. The pensao itself is old and full of charm, it's quite rambling and has a sixteenth century staircase. Staff were friendly, and the room was air conditioned which was perfect as Evora... more

All building needing repairs. WC was very very small and room had too much furniture for it's size. Very central but very expensive. All the furniture was old and seemed coming from my grany's house! One morning had no hot water! more
