Setting - renovated medieval monastery smack in the middle of a Unesco heritage town - is excellent and the air about the place breaths piece. Small but comfortable "cells", excellent breakfast and wellfunctioning service. On the minus-side medieval staircases (I have legproblems) and an attempt to overcharge as compared to confirmed booking price. more

The worst part about this pousada was getting to it. We had a car equipped with GPS, which sent us into Evora's narrow medieval streets from the side of town opposite the hotel. All you need is one wrong street directional to wreck your trip! A one-way street had been changed to go the other way, and when we were... more

We stayed at three different posadas during our trip to Portugal and liked them all. We were obviously at this one the same night as 73 Duck(the student hazing) but the noise didn't bother us - we must have been in another part of the building. The room was the smallest of the posadas but perfectly adequate and the building... more

We stayed in four pousadas on our last trip to Portugal, and this was the only one which was a disappointment. Yes, the location is outstanding relative to the main attractions in Evora, but our "cell" was on the back side overlooking the university. They say timing is everything and ours was as bad as it could have gotten; the... more

This Pousada is a restored monastery and the rooms are called cells which is an accurate name for them. This is one of the smallest rooms we have ever stayed in. But, having said that, the room was clean, and included all the ammenities you would expect from a five star hotel. The breakfast was great and dinner was wonderful... more

Our stay at this Pousada left us with an impression that the hotel was a good four star, bordering on five star, hotel. The best feature of the hotel is it's location - directly across the street from the Roman ruins of Diana's Temple. Situated at the highest point in the town, the hotel offers the best views of the... more

We greatly enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The 'deluxe' room was plain, but the public areas were handsome, and it is right next to some of Evora's major sights. Breakfast was generous and varied. Upon e-mail request they reduced the published rate for our mid-March visit so we got a deluxe double room for the senior rate of 107... more

This hotel has great location advantage, literally next door to Roman Coliseum ruins. This former monastery has held onto most of its former structure and décor. The spacious hall ways is filled with antique furniture and there’s a beautiful marble staircase. However the rooms were not decorated with the consistent theme. Our small room had a shabby chic, country charm... more

We loved this place. Evora is special and this hotel fits right in. It's a masterful job of renovation. Yes the rooms (cells) are small but the ceilings are high and the bathrooms nice so somehow it didn't feel claustrophobic. The pool is small but beautiful.Tthe restaurant is gorgeous, tasty and suprisingly reasonable. Evora is worth seeing and this is... more

Evora Pousada was a disappointment in April 2006 - poor service, grossly expensive bar which then overcharged, and little breakfast choice, plus an unmade room on arrival, marred a nice setting. more
