Worth a visit because it's in a beautiful old building right next to the cathedral and temple of Diana. Positives: - building is beautiful, - wonderful location - public rooms tastefully and elegantly decorated - beautiful setting for restaurant (old cloister) - very helpful and friendly staff Less positives: - noise: the corridors retain their original tiled floors, which is... Positive points for this hotel are its position, the helpful staff and the historical building in which it is found. Negative are the rooms and breakfast. We had a "cell" looking into the courtyard. Even with a superior room it was dark and a little noisy as meals are taken in the courtyard. Breakfast is a disappointing buffet where the... More

We visited Evora the last week of March. Loios is a stunning posada. Since it was not too crowded then, we were able to upgrade to a suite. How absolutely stunning…our living room with walls decorated in the 1700's, crystal chandeliers, modern bath traditionally appointed with the high European tub, high count linens. An attentive staff took great care of... More

Staying at this hotel brings you back to another era. The hotel is lovely, rooms small but comfortable and the public spaces are impressive. The staff couldn't be more genuine or helpful. We had dinner in the restaurant on the first night. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. I ordered the cod which was prepared with garlic,... More

Sorry that this review is so late. I visited Evora last July and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The Pousada is right at the heart of the historic City with a great buzz. Food at the hotel is great and authentic...eating in the cloisters only adds to the experience. We had a room off the cloisters in an old "cell"; very... More

I have a bias for staying in historical locations, so I love the Pousadas in Portugal and the Paradores in Spain. Pousada dos Lóios in Évora is among the top sites I've visited in many years of travels across Iberia. The convent is in excellent condition and has been masterfully retrofitted as a hotel. The location is stunning: outside the... More

This pousada was special. From our arrival when a staff parked our car for us, we enjoyed our stay. Our room (for 4 people) was really 3 rooms plus an interesting "space" between the 3 rooms. Both the sleeping areas had French windows that opened onto this interior space, that let in natural light. We had a clawfoot tub in... More

Dear Guest, It was our pleasure to read your review of the Pousada and we are very appreciated. I agree with you when you say that the monks on those days did not have the luxury of your Presidential Suite. And in terms of location, being in front of the Roman Temple is for us a privilege. We do hope... More

The service and the location of this hotel was excellent. We also liked the fact that the front desk would help park our car. The fact that the hotel was historic gave it an extra plus. I highly recommend this hotel if in the area.

My wife and I stayed in a modestly furnished but large suite but it suffered from the dimmest lights I've ever encountered in a hotel. Our friends encountered the same in their room. This made reading in bed a laughable endeavor and my wife's attempt to put on her makeup virtually impossible. Nevertheless, the staff couldn't have been nicer and... More

We arrived in Evora by bus, and chose to walk to the pousada... I'd recommend a taxi, the stand is right at the bus depot, and costs under 5 Euros, worth it. The reception experience was so very nice,a treat. We stayed in Cell 115, perfect temperature, comfortable beds and linens. With the pousada's history, I'd expected it to be sparse,... More
