This was originally a monastery, and some of the monk's cells have been converted into bedrooms (now with modern bathrooms!). The situation is excellent - right in the centre of town and easy walking distance to everything. There's a small pool and the standards of service from all the staff were excellent. It's not a cheap place to stay, but... more
Pousada Dos Loios offers pleasant accomdations in a central location to Evora. Right next door to the Diana temple it is within walking distance of all the Evora sights. We stayed in a lovely suite - picture an open, tall fireplace with upholstered wing chairs inside. A pleasant reading spot! The room was quite large and nicely appointed. There were... more
This former monestary right in town was all we hoped for. They offered us a larger room, but we chose to stay in one of the small monk's cells to really get the atmosphere. It is pricy but elegant, with a very good restaurant in the former cloister. Quiet, our window looked out over the countryside. Tricky to get to... more
The pousada is charming and in a great location at the Temple of Diana, the Se, etc. The reception staff was friendly and especially helpful. Driving to the property was easy, as was the valet parking. Our suite was fantastic, with frescos covering the entire living room. The Portugese Pousada "Golden Age" rate was outstanding at about 1/2 price. The... more
I have went to Pousada dos Loios in Evora because I was looking for a quiet and charming place to relax for a few days, and that was exactly what I have found! The Pousada is an antique monastery, located near the "Templo de Diana" - a monument from the roman age. Right next to it there is the imponent... more
Our one-night stay (Saturday) was wonderful. Access to the Pousada is well indicated by road signs and was very easy. You take the ring road around until you see the pousada sign then 2 quick turns and you are at the pousada. It helps to look at the picture of the place beforehand since the entrance is to the left... more
Having been in Portugal & Spain 2 years ago, we were eager to return & see places previously unseen by us, including Evora. Evora is a really charming town and the pousada is truly in the heart of the old town, next door to a private chapel, the ancestral home of Catherine Bracanga, a very picturesque Roman ruin of a... more
We have booked Pousada Dos Loios because the idea of spending a night in a converted monastery seemd interesting. Unfortunately we arrived late in the evening and could not enjoy the facilities (beautiful pool) that the pousada offers at full extent. The check in service was really nice even though we arrived late and they have even upgraded us into... more
Two of us stayed two nights in March 2008. This Pousada is situated right in the old part of the town, you may find yourself driving through some quite narrow streets. Leave the car outside the hotel and give reception the keys and the will sort out the parking. Good front of house welcome, explaining things, carrying the cases, recommending... more
