Magnificent and historic Pousada in central Portugal. The hotel is full of antiques including tapestries, paintings, chinas and furnitures which made us especially happy. The room was very comfortable. Good breakfast offered. Enjoyed the lunches in the restaurant as well as the local wines. The Bar and lounge area were very big with many sitting areas to lounge in. The... More

Fooled by the lack of the usual signs for pousadas, we took a while to find our way to this hotel but were glad we persevered! It is a stunning building in a stunning position, filled with antique furniture and paintings. The staff we met were charming, friendly and helpful, but it seemed that in the recession probably too few... More

Stayed for one night, had a lovely, large twin room with the balcony overlooking a courtyard. The staff was helpful and charming. Ate dinner here as well and really enjoyed the meal. From here we went to the pousada in Evora and compared to Rainha Santa Isabel, it paled in comparison. This pousada was worth the money, the rooms were... More

I believe many tourists have no interest for History and have no idea who Rainha Santa Isabel was. If you are someone like that Portugal is not for you! This Pousada was the castle where the queen once lived, but it is not a museum! The rooms were renewed but with old style furniture, very chic! The restaurant has execellent... More

We went to this wonderful pousada in august. It was a perfect moment. The rooms are charming, the restaurant is quiet and with character, the pool is well oriented and the hôtel is so authentic ! The personal is really sympathic and always try to suit you.

This pousada is amazing, of important historical value and very wel situated. The town of Estremoz has an small upper part where the pousada is situated on the highest point. From the tower, the view is impressive. it is nice that you can easily walk to downtown Estremoz, which is a typical Alentejo town and nice to walk around.

When we made the reservation we had asked for a room with a large single bed. But upon arrival they had only a room with twin beds. Bad start. But apart from this our stay was very nice. Although the equipment/decoration is old (2 centuries) it is in good shape and if you like this type of stuff it is... More

The structure in istelf is really beautiful and the collection of antique work of art displayed inside very impressive (never seen so many all togheter in an hotel - sometimes it seens to be in a museum too) With these premises I would like to give an higher rating, but unfortunately the service hasn't been of the same level...just to... ...relax for some time. Nice location on top of small town, very friendly - attentive - staff helping out in whatever you might need. Wine & food are good and prices are reasonable (for type of accomodation/Pousadas). We definitely will come back!!!

Most folks don't seem to go beyond Evora when visiting from Lisbon. That's a shame, as a few yards down the road is the small, charming, fortressed town of Estremoz, with narrow, bricked streets that makes your GPS becomes directionally challenged. The main attraction is the Pousada de Estremoz (Rainha Santa Isabel) hotel, as it is a converted mansion made... More
