We were blown away by this hotel. It is easily the best hotel we've stayed in on our trip to Portugal. Our room was spacious and the marble bathroom was simply gorgeous. Previous reviewers have covered just about everything but I will add that its location makes it perfect for visiting the sights in town. My husband told me that... More

The Hotel room 201 was outstanding & reasonably priced! Louis was very helpful and the perfect host on arrival! Breakfast at 7.30 to 10.30 & this was a restful stop to a month long tour of Spain & Portugal!

When was the last time you stayed in a hotel built into a fortified city wall? Previous reviewers covered the hotel in detail - I generally would like to second the June 6, 2013 review. This hotel announces itself with a large sign as you drive the road into town...best to use that to figure out where to park -... More

The hotel is located within the city walls, next to the entrance. We paid 55 Euro for a double bed room including internet and breakfast. The room is big as well as the bathroom. The size of the bathroom was untypical big with a jakuzi.

This former military hospital dating back to the Peninsular Wars and earlier is perched on the citadel wall commanding amazing views. The hotel is a lovely old building providing large bedrooms and spacious marble bathrooms. A good breakfast is served including scrambled egg bacon sausage as well as cold meats and cheese. The hotel is ideally situated for exploring the... More

This hotel has a great location just inside the old city wall in this very beautiful, old town. The rooms are very spacious and beautiful and the hotel garden/patio is very beautiful too. We stayed here for three nights in October, and the first night it was a storm and very heavy rain. In the morning it started dripping from... More

We recently enjoyed a lovely one night stay at this hotel. The pool, courtyard and gardens are lovely, but the room and en suite was truly lovely. Very large. The staff were very welcoming indeed and we appreciated the free parking. The location is good. Breakfast was fine. The little issues that needed attention (shower cap missing, no instructions for... This hotel has loads of character being a former monastery of a Medical Order. The conversion is very tastefully done, which means only the minimum changes for guest creature comforts were made. There is a very calm and peaceful aura about the place. Huge thick stone walls, many vaulted ceilings, tile floors. Compared with purpose-designed hotels, the corridors and common... More

On a recent trip through Spain and Portugal we spend one night in Elvas at this hotel. I was surprised that our GPS did not list this hotel in their data base and the address provided did not produce a result GPS result either. We had to rely on the old fashion method of stopping folks and asking for directions.... More

We found the guys on reception , especially Louis, very helpful. We had to change our travel plans and the hotel were very accomodating even offering a room with balcony. Unfortunately, we were only able to stay one night in this atmospheric hotel which was originally a military hospital. It therefore has some rooms which are internal -in that they... More
