Came here back in 2011 when is first heard it had been converted from a military hospital. I was brought up in the area and had always seen the very tall palm and had wanted to come and see it for myself. The hotel, as mentioned above, was converted from a medieval militarily hospital, and it's been done up beautifully,... More

We were passing between Evora and Caceres and we stayed at this hotel. It is stepping back in time a little to stay here. It is not a modern hotel but that is part of its charm. Charming it is, but there could be a lot of improvements to build it to a four star hotel it purports to be.... More

A nice local hotel in a historic building with good service from Luis, the Chief of Reception, who changed our booking to a better room for our family situation and arranged a couple of beers to be brought to the room as we arrived. Help with the luggage and direction to the room would of been appreciated. Room had all... More

The hotel is located in the restored Catholic Convent, inside the city walls, in the center of town. Our spacious room had a view of town's fortifications, also a comfy queen bed, wardrobe, sofa, desk, mini-bar, all in pleasant décor. Friendly staff, quite helpful. Buffet breakfast was included. Free Wi-Fi (weak) and private parking on site. Overall, a good value.

We stayed here for two nights in February 2015, the rooms are spacious with lovely refurbished bathrooms, decent warm water, plenty of towels and extra heaters in bathrooms. The reason for an average rating on service; Upon check in we met a very friendly gentleman and that was the reason for us staying there, unfortunately we never saw him again... More

this lovely hotel is situated within the wuss of Elvas and within walking distance of most of the historic sites and architecture. The bedroom was large and and kept at a very comfortable temperature. The bathroom was also large and contained a jacuzzi bath and bidet. The shower was excellent and a large mirror finished off the -decor. Breakfast was... More

This hotel is in a converted convent. The building and grounds cover a lot of territory. It is a wonderful maze of halls and passages and it is a bit like staying in a museum. The room we had was huge with a nice King bed. Not all romos are created equal. Some do not have windows to the outside... More

The hotel is perfectly located in Elvas which is a small city well worth a visit. A former monastery and then a hospital during the British Iberian campaign in the early 19th century, this hotel is built right on the city walls. Its tiled floors and high ceilinged rooms give it grandeur and the flowers and orange trees just off... More

A real gem and amazing value for money. This posado style hotel and former monastery is literally built into the walls of Elvas a World Heritage site in western Portugal just 12 kms from the Spanish border and the historic city of Badajoz. Many of the spacious rooms have balconies that would be better described as patios. The gardens are... More

Built in the corner of the actual city fortification, this is probably the best hotel in the area. Very spacious and clean rooms, a bit oldish maybe, that look out over the hinterland or the flower garden, with a huge bathroom and impressive peace and quiet... The long and dark corridors are a bit sinister maybe, but add to the... More
