This was always going to be a bit of a gamble; thought Elvas would be an interesting, un-touristy sort of place. Actually it was more than expected. OK, so it's a 3 star, there is no minibar fridge, no wifi. But despite a lot of re-development work going on in the first floor (which was boarded up and a lot... More

We stayed at the Dom Luis as it is very convenient for the birder to Spain. It is in the beautiful town of Elvas and faces the aqueduct. The room was very basic but the beds were comfortable although the bedding was tired.the bathroom which at first glance looked nice was a nightmare as using either the wash hand basin... More

I have nothing but praise for this little hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was great and the included breakfast perfectly acceptable for the price we paid. The pool was fine for a hotel of this size.It was well situated, being 10 minutes walk from the centre. It is a bit of a struggle up the hill... More

The Dom Luis Hotel is a place to stay if you are on a budget and only staying one or two nights. It appeared clean, the reception staff could have been a little more friendly but were certainly not unpleasant. They directed me to the Tif-Taf restaurant down the road for a meal - it was appalling. They couldn't speak... More

This was our first night crossing over from Spain into Portugal and this hotel was a stopover on the way to the Algarve. It was clean and comfortable. The pool area was a nice surprise and the setting was great. It is well placed for the old town and the views of the Roman aqueduct at night are gorgeous. However,... More

This Modern hotel is well situated just outside the old city walls. It overlooks the aqueduct and within walking distance (uphill) to the centre. The hotel has good accommodation, a swimming pool and serves a decent breakfast. Overall a good place to stay when visiting Elvas.

After 21 years without visiting Elvas this was really a good choice to stay, big room, the buffet food was good specially the main course nice breakfast. The different areas of the hotel are spacious, such as the bar the smoking room, a bath at the swimming pool was good and made the difference from the heat of Alentejo.

This is a modern hotel which is 10 minutes walk from the very centre of Elvas and the room rate was very reasonable. It has the most fantastic views of the aqueduct which is almost within touching distance. A busy road passes right outside of the hotel but we did not notice the traffic at all and slept very well... First of all I have to say that Elvas is small but very nice city. The hotel is in a nice location easy to find (as most things in Elvas), has recently renovated rooms, but not 100% renovated. The closet deserves some new doors as the existing ones just do not close! Anyhow, the bathroom is clean and modern, the... More
