We read the reviews in advance and did expect the hotel to be charming, but a little run down. It was, yet the quietness of the place and the tranquil and romantic surroundings made us really love the stay, and sad that we had to leave after just two nights. The beds were nice to sleep in, and the staff... More

I found this place really hard to rate as the Quinta itself could be fabulous, but just needs a bit of money & tlc spending on it. Our room was lovely - large, beautifully furnished with 2 windows looking over the lovely gardens. Staff were very friendly & spoke excellent English, Wifi coverage was really good. There was a fridge in the... More

It was the 3 time we went there. We like great 5 and 4 stars hotels with all the conforts and moderneties avaiable.Well, this is not the case. This is diferent, but the quality is acepteble and the atmosfhere, the old mansion felling and the gardens, the restaurant, the pooll, and ,most important the "Air" that we breed, make up for all the other... Real character property if a little "past it best", staff very friendly & the location is very quiet, good value for money, breakfast was good & dinner also, if a little pricey. Ideal location to viist the wonderful town of Elvas or as a stop over going South or North.

We just loved our stay and regret that we could not stay more than one night. The place is heavenly and the staff do all they can to make you feel happy and comfortable there. We had dinner in front of the fireplace (special courtesy of Pedro, our young and competent waiter) and it was marvellous, both for the excellency... More

In march 2012 we have been staying 2 nights in this hotel. Nice place to stay - beautifull gardens. But Because of the period of the year, we were the only guests... a bit lonely. For the first breakfast we had to ask everything: butter, jam, sugar... But the second morning: the breakfast buffet was installed! Diner was OK...but again...... More

We discovered quinta de santo antonio about 16 years ago. For us, after all these years, it is a place of rest, friendship, beauty! The gardens are beautifull and well kept, the swimming pool is lovely, the rooms nice, clean, charming! The staff is helpfull. But more over we find there friendship, nice people, rest, good food. The two sisters,... More

This place has obviously seen better days: it was a 5* Estalagem (not to be mixed with 5* Hotel!!) and is now a (4*) Tourismo Rural. Don't mix with Quinta de Santo António de Adorigo in the Douro valley area!! When we arrived we missed a clear "reception" sign from the parking, the receptionist showed us our room which was... The hotel welcome was very good. We were encouraged to explore this lovely house and fabulous gardens. Although too early for the pool to be in use a wine on the trerrace was most welcome (trying to pretend we were lord and lady of the manor). Every room was worth exploring. The breakfast was good. We ate in the restaurant... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In the heart of Alto Alentejo and situated between Elvas (7 Km) and Badajoz (15 KM), Quinta de Santo Antonio is a veritable oasis for those who seek tranquility, beauty and superior quality of service. Quinta de Santo Antonio currently encompasses 17 hectares and lies within the Herdade da Amoreira estate. It portrays the Alentejo in an atmosphere rich in tradition which takes one back in time. The main building, in conjunction with its chapel erected in 1715, embodies the finest architecture of the traditional estates, and blends harmoniously with the XVIII gardens and the distinctive rural Alentejo landscape. Taking into consideration the architecture of the ancestral building, the interior was completely restored and currently possesses 30 rooms in which the emphasis is on tailor-made traditional decoration. Each room is equipped with a private bathroom in marble, hairdryer, towels and linen, amenities kit, extra pillows, air conditioning, television, telephone, minibar and a private safe. ... more   less
