Charlotte is an enthusiastic and caring hostess. She is concerned that guests enjoy the best possible experience, and so provides an ample, varied, and delicious breakfast, a thermos bag to make one's own lunch from the breakfast table, wonderful information about the battle of Passchendaele, and a tour of her family's museums complete with samples of the "iron harvest". Absolutely fabulous, Could not say a thing negative. As others have said Charlotte is knowledgeable, food is great, do take here advice about the retuarant in Ypres as fabulous food. Accomodation lovely and the apple pie is so easy to make as she gives you the recipe. Do not think about staying anywhere else in this region more
We were privileged to be able to stay in this amazing Farm B&B. We had to adjust our dates to find availability for our party of 6, but it was worth it. We had 2 triple rooms, each with private bath. Beyond the comfort and value of the actual rooms, the owner, Charlotteand her family, are what makes this B&B... more
Charlotte is an excellent host and Varlet Farm is an ideal choice. You are made to feel so welcome from the arrival till departure. Breakfast is a feast which then becomes lunch that you can take with you. Everything is just wonderfull. Go there you will not be disappointed. We had the family annexe - extremely comfortable - firms beds. Enthusiastic and attentive welcome of hosts, Charlotte and Dirk (and their family). Charlotte's apple pie (scrumptious!). Sumptuous breakfasts featuring local produce and providing wherewithal for picnic lunches. Extensive library, maps and informed local knowledge and advice. Charlotte and Dirk's private museum of battlefield recovered relics, and the story of... more
The tea/coffee and apple cake on arrival was a treat, and indicative of the hospitality for the remainder of our two night stay. Charlotte, the owner, is very helpful freely offering advice and guidance on places to visit & dine out in the evening. She is extremely knowledgeable about the events and sites of the first world war. The accommodation... more
I'm not going to repeat all the good things that have already been said about this B&B. Suffice to say that breakfast is a treat and being able to take some for lunch is a lovely touch. Varlet's owner, Charlotte, is very helpful - to the extent that when we got there at 10pm one night she offered us coffee... more
Ive stayed here a number of times now and it still remains the best B&B by far especially if you're doing a WW1 research visit as it's pretty much central for Ypres and Paschendale. Also a great B&B for bikers as there is good secure parking for your bike. more
If you have the privelge of staying at Varlet Farm you are in for an absolute treat. It is much more than a B&B as Charlotte, the hostess extroardinaire, is one of the warmest, friendly people you could ever meet.
