A brilliant base for exploring Ypres. You are in the heart of the battlefield of third Ypres. The welcome could not be any warmer. Charlotte has a wealth of information which she is happy to share with you. The display/museum in one of the barns is also very good. Breakfasts are way to big!! more

From the start on our arrival we were made very welcome with apple pie and a coffee, then shown our rooms. There is room here for around 22, approximately 10 rooms of various types and all very clean. The location to Ypres was very convenient but with the bonus of being on a quiet yet working farm. I could go... more

We stumbled across Varlet Farm by accident, and what a wonderful piece of luck it was. Charlotte and Dirk were the perfect hosts, and their B&B was top class. We ended up coming back from a short stay in Germany just to stay at Varlet Farm again we loved it that much. They should rename it a B&B&TAL (bed and breakfast... more

We can not add any more to the other comments that say what a really lovely place to stay Varlet Farm is. My stay was brief, one night, as I fell in our campervan & broke my back, but Charrlotte & Dirk were on hand to help, called the doctor & ambulance and gave my very shocked husband wonderful support.... more

Varlet Farm is brilliantly located, close to Ypres, for tours of WW1 battlefields and cemeteries. Charlotte is a wonderful, friendly host. On arrival we were treated to coffee & homemade apple cake (so good I had to ask for the recipe which was immediately produced - I clearly wasn't the 1st to ask!) while Charlotte happily chatted to us in... more

My firend and I stayed at this little Bed and Breakfast thinking we would get just that. However we were in the middle of the Passchendaele Battlefield and close to many other sites. But the main purpose of the stay was to visit where my Grandad fought, which was within walking distance near St Julian. The accomodation was adequate (all... more

Luckily for us we found Varlet Farm through Trip Advisor. It has to be some kind of record to be rated so highly. Charlotte, Dirk and Varlet Farm were everything we were told to expect and more. We only stayed the one night and wished it was longer, we hope to return soon. Many thanks to Charlotte, Dirk and Trip... more

No false bonhomie here. Charlotte is a natural hostess and nothing is too much trouble. All the favourable comments made by previous travellers are true. My wife has slight mobility problems but Charlotte was able to put us in an ideal room on the ground floor. UK travellers would be well advised to bring a portable radio if they wish... more

Charlotte and Dirk offer a warm and welcome stay either in the Dwelling House or in the beautifully converted Farm Buildings. Charlottes buffet breakfasts are appreciated by guests from all over the world, especially when she insists that you make up your packed lunch from the breakfast table food. There are areas where you can relax and read the vast... more
