Both my husband and I had a wonderful battlefields tour with Annette and Christian, it was very moving, emotional and outstanding with Annette's knowledge of the battlefields just amazing, there was nothing you could ask Annette that she didn't know the answer. The magic of Ieper and surrrounding was just fantastic. Accommodation was the best, very comfortable and a very... more

My wife and I had a most informative day with Annette. The visit to trace the last days of my Great Uncle was made more relevant and poign'ant by Annette's depth of Knowledge and enthusiasm coupled with a desire to adapt the tour to your own specific quest. Highly recomended more

There is nothing we could fault about our time at Camalou, in fact it turned out to be much more than we expected. Annette and Christian went out of their way to fill our every request and, in fact, we feel we have made new friends. Their knowledge of Australians at war is incredible and we learnt so very much. more

We stayed for 3 nights Room was very comfortable and had a lovely view of back. A communal refrigerator gave us a place to store bread, cheese, fabulous Ypres pate and, of course, wine. Annette & Christian were terrific. We were just interested in WWI generally, but the care we saw them (especially Annette who's a true student of WWI)... more

Stayed for 3 nights and loved it. Everyone has said it before really. In an excellent location which is quiet and just a few kilometres from the centre of Ypres. Lovely outlook over the garden to farmland. The room and bathroom was well appointed but we ended up with single beds (not a double) but they were comfortable and the... more

We stayed at Camalou for 3 nights in June 2009. Camalou is in a lovely, quiet setting just outside of Ypres. We could look out our window and see cows grazing in the fields. Our room was nicely decorated and very clean. There is a fridge and tea/coffe making facilities for guests in the hallway outside of the rooms. There's... more

We have stayed at Camalou 6 or 7 times over the past 4 years. Christian and Annette, the owners, are so friendly, kind and efficient. The rooms are spacious, clean and well equipped, with really comfortable beds and with super en suite facilities. You can make a hot drink whenever you want to, and in the evening are usually presented... more

I stayed at Camelou with my two adult sons while visiting the graves of our forefathers from WW1 in the area. The help we received was phenomenal. Annette's knowledge is not just local. Her instructions on how to get to Waterloo were spot on. The rooms are well appointed & comfortable,.the breakfast served is more than adequate. There is also... more

We stayed 5 nights at Camalou & took a tour of the battlefields with Annette as our guide. The tour was quite expensive but I would highly recommend their tours to anyone interested in the WW1 battles as both Annette & Christian have extensive knowledge & interest of the battlefield areas. They tailor make the tour depending on which country... more
