We booked a Battlefield Tour with Annette and Christian on the basis of a personal recommendation, and we were delighted. Both Annette and Christian have a deep knowledge of the Western Front, and in particular, the role of Australians. Camalou was a lovely home, and both Annette and Christian could not have done more to make our stay memorable and... More

We booked a battlefield tour with Camalou and were certainly not disappointed. Annette is a knowledgable tour guide with great enthusiasm for her subject. She had gone to a lot of trouble to find out all about my grandfather's war consequently making our tour personal and highly informative. With her skill and knowledge she managed to put my grandfather's final... More

My friend and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Camalou with Christian and Annette. Our positive experience of this lovely place began by Christian meeting us at the train station and driving us to the guesthouse, where we were seated at a beautiful, healthy and filling home made lunch of soup and the freshest baguettes available. We spent... More

Annette and Christian, a most helpful and obliging couple, who made their comfortable warm home, hospitality and wealth of knowledge available to us without any reservation. They also demonstrated a most refreshingly sensitive approach to the tragic events that occurred there during the terrible years of WWI. We highly recommend Camalou as the place to stay when visiting Ypres More

Our stay at Camalou was everything that we wanted and more! Camalou is situated in a rural setting but close to Ypres. Our room, which was located on the first floor of this historic building, was spacious, clean and airy and overlooked the gardens. The en-suite was modern and also spacious. Our hosts, Annette and Christian provided outstanding hospitality. Nothing... More

Annette and Christian are very knowledgeable and can help you make the most out of even a short visit. We had a problem with our car and Annette made telephone calls for us to arrange to get it mended, and then guided us to the garage whcih we would never have found under our own steam. The breakfasts were delicious... More

I had wanted to see the area around Ypres for ages. Camalou was everything I could have hoped for, and then some. Annette and Christian were so kind and welcoming. And their B&B is lovely, comfortable and quiet. The food was amazing and it was nice to come in after a long chilly day seeing WWI sites and have the... More

I had the most wonderful time with Annette and Christian and was amazed at how they juggled the different research needs of their visitors. I had asked for difficult information on my Jones ancestor from Wales who was captured at Ieper. Annette worked really hard to see if she could find him but we both had to be satisfied just... More

Annette and Christian kept in touch by email for at least a week before getting there giving suggestions for travel etc. They even picked me up from the railway station. The B&B is very cosy and I found the rooms perfect for one and would even be good for two. Nice new ensuites and WiFi included in the cost and... More

What a great experience and one all should experience, especially if your country was involved like mine, Australia, was. I spent four days in Ieper over Armistice Day (11/11) period and although it is hard to say how much i loved my time in Ieper due to what occurred here some 90 odd years ago i have to say this...
