Having read the reviews I was apprehensive but I was pleasantly surprised. The room is basic but perfectly clean - a bit of a hike up to the third floor but the view over the square is worth it - especially when a band plays outside the Cloth Hall and the music wafts in through your open window! The food... More

Having read the reviews about Old Tom I wonder what people expect for the money!!! yes the rooms are basic, but does that matter? they are clean and comfortable and are really only used for sleeping. We have stayed there on numerous occasions and have yet to be disappointed. Looking forward to going back again this November

Did not stay in hotel but would highly recommend the food and drink as superb. we were in a party and time was short but the restaurant timed it so we could attend the last post. I was on a visit to the first world war tunnels

Just came back for a two night stay in the old tom hotel. Stayed in room 14, second floor room overlooking the town square. Three singles were in the room with a nice new bathroom. The room is nice, but a bit basic, but this adds to its charms. Christine the owner is fantastic and really welcomes you to the... More

We stayed at the Old Toms for one night whilst visiting the Ypres and Flanders WW1 memorials. The hotel is right in the centre of Ypres on the Grote Markt, a few walks from both The Cloth Hall, Menin Gate, etc which was ideal. The hotel appears to family owned, all the staff friendly and helpful with a relaxed atmosphere,... More

Personal recommendation from two frequent travellers we found The Old Tom was just what we expected. Family run, old fashioned, good value and unpretentious. They hold to local tradition and the restaurant is closed on Wednesday. Location excellent, parking, on street but nearby are streets with unrestricted parking

Have stayed here on several occasions. It's a nice hotel right in the heart of Ypres (Leper/wipers). A front facing room will allow you to watch the world go by in the square, all the rooms I have ever stayed in have en suite facilities. It is within easy walking distance of the Menin Gate and all the shops, restaurants... More

We come here most years, and love Ypres, always staying here at Old Tom. The rooms are clean and much better since the en-suite's have been upgraded. We usually try to get rooms overlooking the square, as the rooms at the back are a bit dark. The food here is good, and the beer. The only downside is the stairs,... More

We were guided towards this restaurant by our host at our Ypres accommodation - he said it was not one of the touristy places, and we'd be served real, unpretentious, and good quality food. He was right. Not much more to say. I remember that we enjoyed our meal but apart from an over supply of chips, I can't remember... More
