Not our first stay at Le Chat Noir so we knew Alain of old. The house is narrow but tall with four floors: ground floor with large reception / dining area, lounge & kitchen; one bedroom & two bathrooms on the second floor; two further bedrooms each on the third & fourth floors. Mind the stairs as they are steep... More

This is a good quality, clean house with spacious bedrooms and comfortable mattresses. Lots of shower gels, hair shampoo and towels to keep you going. The little terraced garden was a shady spot with table and chairs for alfresco dining. Menin Gate is a 3 minute walk away. The surrounding area is full of museums', churches, lots of war memorial... It would be difficult to find a fault with this accommodation. It is convenient to the centre of Ypres only 3 mins walk. It has a little oasis of a secluded quiet walled garden very empathically designed you would never know you were in the middle of a town. Everything you would need is thoughtfully provided with beers wines, bottled... More

This is a good base to stay when visiting Ypres. Very central and within easy walking distance of the Menin Gate. Lovely and clean with all amenities that you need. The downside of this is the way the owner likes to 'oversee' your stay. On arrival he makes a point of telling you to never leave the keys in the... More

My son (age 14) and I stayed here from 7 - 10th April 2014. We didn't meet Caroline but Alain was extremely welcoming and extremely knowledgeable about WW1 history and the area ... We went to Passendale Museum (easy to get to by local bus from Ypres Railway station - was 4 Euros each way for me and my son)... More

We stayed here last year for a week (August 2012 but I've only just realised that I didn't write a review) with friends of ours and their 1 year old baby. Alain couldn't have been more helpful from the moment we arrived, going out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed for our stay. The house... More

Having just returned from a 4 night stay here, I've got to say the standard of the accommodation and our hosts Alain & Caroline is superb. A 2 minute walk to the very beautiful Ypres square where there are some lovely restaurants (albeit some quite expensive) and 'In Flanders Field' museum, 5 minute walk to The MENIN GATE, a must... Returned today from a 5 day stay at Le Chat Noir in Iper town centre. Our hosts (and the owners ) are Alan and Caroline....Alan did the welcome talk and showed us around the three storey town house. There were 9 in our group and we 'bagged' beds on all the floors (The very top bedroom/office being rather nice) All... More

An excellent guest house, with everything you could possibly want. The attention to detail is great. It is centrally located and only a few minutes to walk to the centre of the town with its beautiful Clothe Hall and of course the Menen Gate, where the Last Post is played daily. The guest house is very comfortable and quiet. I... More
