We stayed for three days, two nights. Upon our arrival, we were met by Alain and Annie - two of the kindest people you will ever meet. With only three bedrooms (each its own ensuite), a common room and a breakfast eating area, it is very comfortable and clean. Also, a play area outside with private entrance to our rooms.... More

The hosts Alain and Annie were fantastic and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. Annie's cooking was exceptional and Alain was a fountain of knowledge when it comes to knowing the history of the Western Front. There are only 3 rooms and you feel more like a friend rather than the a guest. The Location is fantastic right in the... More

Ideal for anyone wanting to tour battlefields in area. Proprietor so helpful with his extensive knowledge. We would advise anyone when booking to include breakfast, the quality and quantity will keep you going for best part of day. There is also advice on one of the best places to eat in the evening. Would eat there again with no hesitation.... More

I found The Protea B&B via www search. My purpose was to visit the battlefields of WW1 to trace the footsteps of family members who served in AIF in Flanders. Alain and Annie were ideal hosts. it has been my first visit to continental Europe. Alain's tour in association with his preparatory research re my battalions of interest allowed me... More

The Protea B&B is just on the outskirts of Ypres and located in a prime position for visiting the Ypres Salient. Alain and Annie were fantastic hosts, providing a warm and inviting atmosphere from the off. I'm not one for clichés but we really were made to feel apart of their family. The B&B decor is vibrant and bright, with... More

The Protea is several kilometres outside Ypres and is accessible by a frequent bus service and reasonably priced taxis. The accommodation is extremely well ordered; comfortable beds in very clean rooms and serviced devotedly on a daily basis. The breakfast was varied, more than ample and thoughtfully provided. While Annie quietly cultivates dignified care of guests, Alain is a very... More
