Stayed here for two nights. We rated this the best two star hotel we have stayed in and superior to many 3* we have stayed in. Welcome very informative and second to none by the lady owner. Room very comfy and fairly well appointed with the usual tv and free WiFi. Very clean and beds superior quality. Breakfast - excellent... More

Our brief overnight stay at Ambrosia Hotel was very comfortable and pleasant. The clerk was extremely helpful and spoke English quite well (as do many Belgians). The beds are comfortable. The bathroom was small, but functional - very European. Breakfast was very good! There was a nice continental breakfast laid out, but we were also offered a hot breakfast, cooked... More

Booked this for its handy location and price. The single room (my wife didn't fancy the whole cemeteries/museums thing), was a tad small, particularly the bathroom, but was fit for purpose. Overall though; very clean and tidy. My sister and brother-in-law were also happy with their stay. The staff were welcoming, informative, and attentive. Breakfast was excellent; continental and/or freshly-cooked... More

We were in Ypres to pay tribute to my great grandfather on the centenary of his death in the great war. The Ambrosia had such good TripAdvisor reviews we decided to book our stay here. The hotel is situated a very short walk from the Menin Gate, and the town square. However it is tucked away in a side street... More

Stayed here as a family inc our two primary age children. Chose it based on positive reviews and it lived up to its reputation. Small and seemingly fairly recently refurbished, it had all the facilities we needed. Exceptionally friendly and helpful welcome, excellent breakfast, comfortable beds, spotlessly clean and just perfectly located, very quiet yet only a matter of a... More

We had planned two nights here to visit the WW1 sights, and it's the perfect location for that - very near to the centre, but reasonably easy for parking. Due to bad weather in Holland where we were planning to cycle for 5 days prior, we changed our plans and were lucky to be able to add these days to... More

Ambrosia (ex Shell Hole Hotel we stayed at several times in the past under different ownership) is an ideally placed base for visiting the area. It is clean, but basic, our bed was very comfortable - I am extremely difficult to please when it comes to beds! Vincent was welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. Our breakfast set us up... A great base to stay for visiting the WW1 sights and the centre of Ypres. Clean and efficient with friendly staff. The English Breakfast was a bit of an "All You Can Eat" which sets you up for the day. If you leave around 9:30 and get back about 6:00 the parking is free outside the Hotel which is a... More

Good hotel very clean and basic with corresponding price, knowledgeable helpful owner. Good price with helpfully free coffee, tea and vending machine with cheap drinks. However this time the cooked breakfast this time was really really oily and a little unpleasant, please drain the eggs and bacon before plating up!

A very well located hotel. About 120m from the main square (Grote Markt) and the same from the ramparts, just 200m or so from the Menen Gate. It's also just a 10-minute walk to the station (if there's no building work going on). From what we saw I'd say it's the most perfectly located hotel in Ieper, being that close... More
