The Damier exudes charm. Its location could not be more central, the bar is a long mirrored period piece space, and the rooms and corridors have that old world feel. Excellent breakfast with good cheeses and an old-fashioned coffee pot. Staff exceedingly accommodating. Apparently the oldest hotel in Belgium, so they must be doing something right. Victor Hugo stayed here... More

I was in business trip and stayed for just one day. This hotel is nice for a short stay cause it is located in very center of the historical city, very close to train station, shopping center, historical landmarks, and restaurants. Room space is not big. And does not have attractive facility which you probably won't use for a short... More

Kortrijk is a usual stop for us on the way back to the channel ports, so we've stayed in a lot of hotels here. The Damier is usually a pretty expensive stay, but we got a deal so decided to stop again. Our room was newly decorated, and was very comfortable, a little basic, but we had a late arrival... More

We arrived late one evening and were able to get parked in the hotel's private car park which was important to us as we were in a classic car. Without that parking would probably have been very difficult as the hotel is situated in the main square of the quaint old town which was never designed for the age of... More

This is the oldest hotel is Belgium, founded in 1398. Centrally located on the grand place of Kortrijk. Perfect starting point for visiting the town by foot. Have stroll in the beguine court, visit the St-Maarten church and the Broeltorens. All at short walking distance. The fancy (and frankly overrated) shopping mall KA is also at 5 min walk. It's... I enjoyed my stay in the Damier on account of the hotel’s history, beautiful facade and common areas, the central location, and the convenient (pay) car park. On the downside, as others have stated, the rooms are somewhat overdue for some investment (there is a project ongoing to achieve this). What did NOT impress me was the lack of a... More

The hotel was right in the middle of Kortrijk, a beautiful city with very old and nice buildings. It is abut 10 walking minutes from the train station. When I visited the hotel there was a hughe kermis around. The Grote Markt was full with amusement and food booths. But, actually the only disappointing point was that the hotel had... More

Three of us stayed three nights in basic (called 'superior') rooms 20 and 33. Small rooms (only space for the bed, desk and one hard-backed chair) but bathrooms more spacious, fitted with tub with shower attachment - no shower as such. TV, free wifi, air-conditioning, safe, hairdryer, fridge containing complimentary still and sparkling mineral water - not actually a mini-bar.... More
