We were in Brugge September 12-14. We chose the Anselmus based on reviews here and wer enot disappointed. The hotel was just 5 minutes from the main square - a straight shot and hard ot get lost. We stayed in a quad room on the first floor. We had 4 single beds (pushed together 2 by 2). The room was... More

Anselmus was a very friendly family run hotel .Very clean and compact with an excellent buffet continental breakfast. It was easy walking distance to city centre. The family were very helpful on all counts. Our room was small but clean with TV(4 UK stations) and safe included.Internet was also free in reception. Due to planning restrictions no lifts were allowed and... More

My husband, our college-age daughter, and I stayed at the Anselmus Hotel for 2 days and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The owners were most helpful and gracious. Our room was a good size and very clean. The breakfast buffet offered a wide selection of cereals, breads, pastries, eggs, meat s, cheeses, fruit and more and was served in a lovely... More

Ideally situated, close to The Burg and The Markt down a quiet side street. Staff were very helpful, rooms were immaculate and the breakfast was filling and varied. Would happily stay here again.

We have now stayed here 3 times. The owners are calm and pleasant. They cater for most European languages too, which is helpful I guess. The hotel is famous as the home of the philosopher Anselmus, hence the name. It is dark, and old fashioned, yet modern and clean - huh? Depends on the room...it is a bit of a... More

Our travel guide said this was a quiet, romantic hotel with spacious rooms. Well, all I can vouch for is that Room 21 is none of these. We were at the back of the hotel at street level, so we were woken up by noisy trucks and cars at 7 am. The room was very cramped - when you opened... More

The Anselmus has some good things going for it and some things which would stop me going back unless they were imoproved. It is very central and in a nice area of town. The owners are very helpful and always willing to give you information on restaurants, places of interest etc. It is in a nice old building with a... More

Anselmus, as indicated in other reviews, is very well located. The breakfast is excellent, there is a computer provided in the lobby for Internet access for the guests and the breakfast is wonderful. The owners are knowledgable and very accomodating . The hotel is immaculately clean. A couple of problems: the lights on the stairs go off automatically, many times... More

The hotel lobby looks ok, but is not somewhere you'd want to spend any time. The rooms are very basic - with decor rather like a down at heel 2 star hotel from the 1980s. The bedding is very cheap: sheets were so cheap and horrible we slept on top of the bed - when paying over 100 Euros a... More

Very friendly, very clean hotel. Breakfasts are great. Owners are very helpful. Perfect location right in the middle of Bruges - 2 minutes walk from the Burg and Markt squares. No stairs so not for the elderly or those who have difficulty climbing. The room on the top floor (where we stayed) almost required a climbing rope! Lovely garden and... More
