We were welcomed like family, and our golden retriever was the centre of attention. Room comfy and all in working order. The 2 high points were beyond expectations: 1. Breakfast, never had better in 25 years of visiting Bruges. Fresh fruit and juice (and I mean properly fresh and made in house) 2. Cellar bar, weekends only. Beautiful and one... More

This hotel fits Brugge so well - it is beautiful, carefully restored, has amazing ceilings and design and the new owners are lovely people. Yes, there are stairs - be prepared for that - but we got a room on the first floor - so it was fine. The owners just remodeled their kitchen in the two days we have... More

Bruges is a charming city, and Hotel Karel de Stoute captures that charm so well! The owners were very gracious hosts, and are truly concerned with their guests' experience and stay. Rooms were very clean and spacious, and even though the stairs are narrow, they are manageable. Breakfast was well prepared and fresh, with plenty of options. The location is... More

This hotel is an old home which has been restored into a boutique hotel. We paid a little more for a "superior" room on the second floor to avoid hauling our bags up so many steps. There is no lift. The room was large, decorated in period furniture and the bath was large as well. Our room faced the street... More

We had a superior room and the room was very spacious, being in a medieval quaint town we were expecting it to be smaller. The owners who had only been in charge for 3 weeks did themselves proud. Very polite and any questions we had they were happy to help. Breakfast was amazing fresh breads, bakery products and cereals and... More

We stayed here in 2014. Very nice place. The hostess and her assistant were very polite and hospitable. The hotel itself is beautiful, the room was comfortable, it had everything we needed. Breakfast is standard, but organized as a breakfast at home. Pleased with fruit salad, which were treated kazhoe morning. Value for money - good quality. Excellent location, very... More

It is very easy to agree with the most recent reviews of Hotel Karel de Stoute. It is well-located, quiet, and very nice. The room (at least ours on the second floor) was clean, well-equipped, and spacious, although not luxury as others have noted. However, we weren't looking for luxury. Instead, we wanted something affordable, unique, and convenient -- and... More

A little family run hotel in an excellent location. It about 5-6 minutes walk from the main square. Greta was an excellent host who will gladly help with directions and eateries. Breakfast was lovely and the room are clean, quiet and comfortable. It's a 14th century building so don't expect lift. A visit to the bar in the basement is... More

We stayed here overnight on our way up from France to the Rotterdam ferry, as we wanted a night in Bruges. It was in a nice quiet location, with space to unload and load the car (you then parked the car in a car park nearby which was very reasonable). We read the reviews and it was every bit as... More

A little gem in the heart of Bruge. We found the staff lovely, incredibly welcoming and helpful assisting us in going through the map recommending sites to see and restaurants to book. The building is charming and inviting. Bruge is a place to be explored so we spent very little time in our room but found it comfortable and quiet,... More
