Following reading other reviews am pleased to say hotel exceeded my expectations. The room was clean with a safe and a fridge. The shower was hot and worked well. There paper on the ceiling had split and needed attention but this didn't spoil my overall experience. The breakfast was good scrambled egg and bacon. Cornflakes, yoghurts, ham and cheese fresh... I had a huge room with the view and sounds of the churches, it was under the roof and had a unique shape, the room had the biggest bathtab i had ever seen in a hotel and it was excellent for relaxation. The room was in a main building, which has an elevator to the 3rd floor and then stairs... More

So I read with some surprise the recent reviews of this hotel. I found the staff to be fine, if a little reserved. Personally I didn't have an issue with this as overly excited staff make me grumpy. I stayed in room 54 and my friend was in 55, the layout of the hotel is "Quirky" and it took us... More

Had very mixed feelings about this Hotel as the ratings from previous customers had been so bad,,,,should have taken notice. Lovely from the outside and in a perfect position for the city centre which is just a few minutes walk away, lots of good bars and restaurants close by in Zand Square with the Information Centre right next to the... I don't usually write revues but feel I have to on this occasion! Booked a super break at short notice so didn't have chance to see these revues until afterwards and we were abit concerned on reading them. We went with an open mind travelling with P O ferries which I highly recommend! The receptionist was very nice and then... More

Booked two rooms for two nights. Beds comfortable and towels changed. Safe didn't work (was locked) and despite asking, no one came to fix it. Wifi doesn't work anywhere in building except at reception and only then if receptionist not using it - so forget that. Parking is close but at own expense. Breakfast average. Overall is affordable but basic.

Been at this Hotel 4 times within 10 years and this last time the experience was totally different. It was as if there were different staff people as before. This was the first time I was put in a room behind the Hotel.. We were escorted through the restaurant out of the original Hotel through the back alley into a... More

They'd clearly renovated the restaurant and reception but upstairs needs significant attention. Should have realised by the smell of damp in the lift but got progressively worse as we entered our 1st bedroom. Stained carpets and linen, ripped mattresses, shabby walls including a large hole in the wall, broken toilet seat, mould around the bath. You get the picture. Asked... More
