I had high hopes for this hotel. From what I had read / heard it was a fairly modern hotel well located and well priced. (I booked a special from Driveline, UK) We decided to walk to the hotel from the station (!) which took a while (45 mins?), but we got my bearings on the way. I'd advise you... more

Got a good deal on this hotel: 3 nights for the price of 2. We were not expecting anything fancy, but were quite happy with the room. We had a room overlooking the river which was nicely furnished using features of the old building. There was plenty of storage, a safe and mini bar along with a large TV and... more

4 of us stayed for our joint wedding anniversary and after a freindly check-in, were given 2 half bottles of champagne, very acceptable. Rooms big, with one over the canal, lovely, but mirror missing from one of the full size wardrobe doors, towels tatty and worn, inner room door handle fell off, hand rail on landing (1st floor) loose and... more

We found a good x-mas period offer on the hotel's website at €59 p.p.p.n. including breakfast, sauna, 1 hour of internet and a welcome drink. Seemed good value for money to us as you'd normally pay more than €170 for two persons for all this. We got a very nice, spacious and high room in the old factory part (facing... more

Very disappointing for an allegedly 4-star hotel. As a previous review stated, the rooms were very basic. The towels were worn and torn! Housekeeping made the beds, but did not clean nor tidy the room, or wash the drinking glasses, nor did they top up the mini bar. The breakfast, was disappointing to say the least. We arrived at 10:30... more

Rooms were very basic no facilities like drawers or shelves. Staff unfriendly. No restaurant. No bar facilities including coffee after 11pm. As seasoned travellers this was the worst 4* experience we have ever encountered. more

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights in july, hotel was excellent for comfort and location, bed and breakfast as there was no restaraunt but not needed as plenty of eateries 2 mins away. Would recommend and will return soon more

I stay in Gent a lot and the River hotel is my current favourite. The location is excellent, right next to the Friday Market square with its restaurants and cafe bars, and car parking is simple with the underground Fridaymarket car park right next to the hotel. The rooms in my opinion are much better than a standard chain hotel... more

Stayed three nights at this hotel. Four star - more like three stars. Clean hotel, not a plush sumptious hotel but moving towards cool and contemporary. Very close to all attractions but much closer to the shopping area than than the cathedral and churches. The general style is quite cool and contemporary. I found the interiors rather cold for my... more
