I was drawn to the hotel due to its history. It did not disappoint. The rooms were a little dated, but very cosy and warm. My room was large and had lovely chairs. The bathroom was freshg and clean. THe location is fantastic, 2 mins to the old town, close to everything you would want to see for a short... More

Small hotel just off the centre of the old town (max 5 minutes from the Graslei/Cornlei harbour). Its a tall medieval house (so steep stairs, ornate breakfast rooms, creaky floors) and looks like it hasn't been updated in 20 years. But it is great value, everything worked and the beds (that looked worn out) were actually really comfortable. The lady... More

We've stayed here for two nights in the very calm and pleasant atmosphere of this 16th century building next to the centre of Gent. A hotel which is far different from the room optimized hotel mainstream. The interior is coherent to the historic ambience. Rooms with plenty of space and comfortable bed. Breakfast was perfect including fresh fruits. The entire... More

This is a characterful old hotel, with lots of period features outside and in (high, beamed sloping ceilings in my room for instance), and decent, helpful staff. Good, central location as well - not too noisy (some stray trombone noise etc from the nearby music school (in the day only - otherwise would have been a problem!) only added to... More

We stayed here for one night and it was excellent. A lovely old building with high ceilings and which retains its original feel. Our room was spacious and very comfortable with tea/coffee making facilities and a mini bar that was reasonably priced. There was a very good breakfast and we were given a gluten free version for one of us... More

Hotel Erasmus is a really old hotel with bags of character. We had a familly room on the top floor and there is no lift. The climb is worth the effort. Best night sleep of the holiday, I don't know if this was due to the comfy bed or the fact that the climb up the stairs k.......d me! The... More

I don't think you can get a better value for your money. The location was incredibly perfect (check out a map of the city and you'll see). Service is pleasant, helpful, and very accommodating. Room was spacious. clean, quiet, atmospheric, and comfortable. Breakfast - very adequate. An excellent value, in an historic building, with all the amenities needed. Bravo!

This is a great place to stay if you love beautiful old buildings, peace and quiet (and definitely not the usual chain hotel ambience). An excellent breakfast in a lovely room overlooking a small formal garden. It won't be to everyone's taste, but we loved it when we first stayed here 12 years ago, and it's just as good today.

The hotel is not cheap (about 100 euros on average a night) but I enjoyed the location not far from St Michael's church and bridge. The building is picturesque. The room was fairly modest (but I really like modest). No shower, just a tub with sprayer. Staff was friendly and helpful enough. Breakfast was good. The breakfast room was particularly... More

If you like to feel the atmosphere of an historic townhouse of medieval style this hotel is for you! The lounge, the staircase, the rooms, the furniture, the courtyard, etc...everything has character and charm, located only a few minutes away from the historic center. We had a room at the upper level, which means it had high ceilings, the problem... More
